“A hiiden gem”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 May 2014

Were taken by friends for Sunday Lunch - eight of us.

Great meal in a stunning location - could not fault anything. The staff were great - the food to die for. Pity it is so far away otherwise I would be tempted to visit very frequently.

“Beautiful in every way!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 May 2014 via mobile

Beautiful setting, beautiful people, beautiful food and beautiful rooms. We've visited yalbury cottage on a number of occasions (as a couple, on business and with the family) and it just keeps getting better and better. The service is perfect with a very personal touch - On our last visit Jamie made our 2 children feel very special with their own special "grown up" food for breakfast and dinner. Arianna is very good at making you feel at home and comfortable and nothing is too much for her. The menu is not too big and, whatever you choose, you can be sure that every element on that plate will come together and taste incredible. I always choose something that is completely new to me and I've not once been disappointed. The wine menu is especially good. And if you are lucky enough to be staying in one of the rooms, make sure you have the yalbury breakfast. The scrambled eggs are devine! Everything about this place is out of this world and we cannot wait for our next visit!

“Excellent Sunday Lunch”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 April 2014

Many years ago we ate at this restaurant and were not too impressed. However, things have changed enormously. Sunday lunch for two. Fixed price, fixed menu, all excellent. From the point of arrival one is welcomed and the ushered into a sitting room for a drink and nibble while the meal is prepared. "Nibble"? Amuse-bouche? Whatever, it was lovely. The wine-list is good and the menu offers a good and imaginative choice for a fixed event meal. The meal was very well cooked and served just as it was ready and accompanied with excellent freshly made bread rolls. Given the three-course menu included the amuse-bouche, bread and coffee, it was excellent value and competitively priced. We enjoyed it thoroughly and will be returning.

“Quite simply the best Sunday Lunch ever”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 April 2014 via mobile

Visiting the area we saw the reviews on TripAdvisor and were very lucky to secure a short notice booking for Sunday Lunch. From the initial welcome onwards we knew we were somewhere special and the place lives up to the outstanding reviews.
Let's start with the mains, by far the best Roast beef I've ever tasted. The waitress was quick to highlight the excellent local produce but you also have to acknowledge the quality of the chef - the meat was the most perfect medium rare, and every vegetable cooked to be a taste sensation.
The cheese soufflé and duck egg were both excellent starters, and the queen of puddings for dessert a triumph. The bottle of Malbec went down very easily. Even the coffee was perfectly strong!
I'm an incredibly fussy reviewer and I cannot fault this place. Sitting, enjoying our meal, we heard table after table complimenting the quality of the food.
I would take a trip back any day, a triumph.
