Nice pub with nice ambience. Had the beef welly as main course. Pastry needed egg wash before cooking as very insepid looking. Beef cooked very well shame it was overpowered by the sheer amount of haggis. Whiskey sauce, swede and steamed veg was definitely the star of the course. Panna cotta had thick crust on the top where it had been cooked too long. Won't be visiting again.

Thank Alan W

Myself , my wife ,mum and friends decided to visit this restaurant having heard about it , about a 40 min drive from Poole , we arrived and were warmly greeted and shown to our table , the place has a calm relaxed feel to it , we order our dinner , I had the steak and kidney pudding and so did my wife , the rest had belly pork , we were given a sample of haggis to try such is my scottish roots and yes having never tried it before found it very nice and tasty and will try again soon , I am told it is imported down from scotland . Our main meals was most enjoyable and there was more then we could eat . i had bread and butter pudding with ice cream to round off a really enjoyable evening with family and friends . You can also stay here or just pop in for a drink as there is also a bar section and a garden at the rear . The staff here were excellent and we were made most welcome and I shall return for Sunday Lunch

We went to Shaftesbury on a very hot and sunny day because I was a volunteer minibus driver for a group from Stanley Pearce House. Top Marks to Shaftesbury Tourist Information Centre for the voucher for two hours free parking for my minibus AND a voucher redeemable at most of the cafes in town for a free tea/coffee and a slice of cake.

The Kings Arms is situated adjacent to the public car park. Despite the ambient heat, the interior was cool, clean and inviting. The decor suggested recent refurbishment. We sat in the main bar, but there was a separate room at one end of the bar if we’d wanted to sit there. We arrived just after 11, and noted that food wasn’t served until 12, but the very pleasant lady at the bar still took our food order with our drinks order, and our food arrived bang on the dot of 12. We both opted for steak and ale pie with mixed veg, one with chips and one with new potatoes. The plates were hot, the cutlery clean, and the food delicious and reasonably price. Free wifi. Spotless toilets. Staff and clientele were friendly and helpful. As we left, we noticed a separate games room, which appeared to have a skittle alley under the carpet. All in all, a very pleasant visit, and we will happily return.

It would be really helpful if the licensee could get their menu onto the web.

We had a quick lunch stop at the 'Kings Arms' on our way to Devon. It is a traditional old pub which does a lunch time service. Food was good and plentiful and arrived quite quickly, and considering that a coach load had arrived was very well handled. Staff were courteous and efficient. Toilets were clean and acceptable.
