“Friendly locals pub”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 August 2013

we arrived late(ish) and hungry in Shaftesbury and stumbled across the Two Brewers while walking around the town. We plumped for the fish and chips. Very tasty, big portions - loads of lovely, crisp chips with complimentary homemade bread and olives while we were waiting for our main meal. Local real ale and cider. Very friendly! Walked back up Gold Hill to the Retreat.

“Traditional pub in a pretty village”

Excellent Sunday Carvery lunch. Good atmosphere and great service. Children can play in the garden and there is plenty to keep them occupied.

“Wonderful staff & food!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 August 2013

We were staying at a cottage 5 minutes away so we strolled along to this pub on three occasions, one lunchtime and two evenings. Each time the food was excellent and the staff very welcoming and friendly. Special thanks and praise must go to the two lovely young ladies behind the bar on Wednesday and Friday evening last week (31/7 & 2/8) as even though they were rushed off their feet they were so friendly and helpful.
Thank you for making us so welcome.

“Lovely pub”

Great pub, food was fantastic one if the best meals I have had, great value for money and staff were very friendly. I would certainly recommend the pub and food if you haven't already experienced it for yourself.

“A proper pub with good food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 July 2013

Recently taken under new management - according to our B&B host - an what a good job they're doing. A friendly atmosphere - the place looks and feels like a pub people use. It's the one pub in Shaftesbury that I found a decent single malt - my partner drinks ale and said the Buttcombe Gold was very good. The food was very much at the top end of of pub food and excellently cooked and presented, and we got complimentary bread and olives, which was a lovely touch - and very tasty. Would recommend this to anyone, and if you're looking for a holiday 'local' for few days this will fit the bill (as will the food).
