“JUST PERFECT”

From the moment you are welcomed into this beautifully converted chapel to be welcomed by tea and chocolate tart you know you are staying somewhere special. I could go on about the views from the lounge, the gorgeous room, the wonderful breakfast (I recommend the eggs Benedict) and friendly hosts but suffice to say if you are visiting Shaftesbury then stay here.
It is a 10 minute walk or so up the hill to Shaftesbury. Take in a sunset from Castle Hill which overlooks the Old Chapel. We had perfectly good pub grub at the Mitre Inn where the Young's beer swung it for me. Also good views from the back of the pub but I understand this gets very busy in the summer.

We stayed for three nights at this very comfortable guest house. Sue and Philip are very friendly and there are so many extra touches such as water and fresh milk in the room. It is so lovely and quiet and just a short but steep hill walk into town where there are many pubs and restaurants. We loved the room especially the large bed and the bathroom. We will certainly stay again if we return to this area.

We stayed four nights in The Old Chapel for a family wedding in nearby Motcombe, and can heartily endorse what other reviewers have said. Everything is top quality - from the bed linen to the bath towels to the breakfasts. Not only was our comfortable room (and bathroom) spotlessly clean, it was very quiet during the night too. We were very appreciative of the friendliness of our hosts who were very helpful in many ways. We recommend The Old Chapel without hesitation.

On par with a 5* hotel but with a more attentive and personal welcome, the Chapel really is something to look forward to! The hosts are such a lovely couple that are so thoughtful and attentive that you truly feel spoilt and utterly relaxed after a stay. With two stylish and spotlessly clean rooms, delicious cake and drinks on arrival, the most splendid breakfast with locally sourced products and such a beautiful building in a great location, we certainly cannot wait to go back!

Many thanks Sue and Phillip :-)

In view of all the other enthusiastic reviews, it scarcely needs saying, but: this is an outstandingly good B&B. We spent four very good days here whilst revisiting Dorset after an interval of six years.

For special mention, we'd pick out four things in particular: the friendly, but not intrusive, welcome, and the subsequent interest in what we had been doing; the very large and comfortable bed; the excellent breakfast; the wonderful view across the Blackmore Vale from the visitors' sitting area.

If you're visiting the Shaftesbury area, and don't mind walking into the town centre for your evening meal (though the pub just a few yards down the road seems to do good pub food too) then it's not easy to see how you'll do better than to stay at The Old Chapel.

I arrived in Shaftesbury for an early and checked in with no problem. The place is lovely, airy and bright. I stayed in the West room (this B&B has only 2 double rooms) it had a massive bed and super clean. Lovely bathroom with nice toiletries. Plenty of choices at breakfast time with local sourced and quality ingredients. Fabulous hosts they could not do more to help and make you feel comfortable. Perfect! Highly recommended.

Room Tip: only two rooms, both excellent
