Delightful and very interesting museum run by friendly volunteers. I particularly enjoyed seeing the Dorset buttons and quilt. Do make a point of going through to the garden which is beautifully maintained. Spotlessly clean loo also welcome! It is great that it is free but we are always pleased to make a donation on leaving.

As children of the 70's visiting Gold Hill itself was fantastic. Couldn't resist the walk down, it is beautiful. Popped into the museum afterwards, and actually ran out of time looking round, as we had only parked our car for couple of hours. Sure we could have stayed for longer, and explored the surrounding shops but for our time schedule. Personally I found the museum more interesting the further in you went ( recent war history of the local area especially interesting) thank you.

OK....if you go here expecting to find a Tate Modern or Imperial War Museum you'll be disappointed, but for what it is this is a lovely, interesting little place, with friendly, helpful staff and very well laid out displays...despite obvious issues with size/capacity.

This little museum is in a scenic location, just off Gold HIll, and has a pretty little garden too. Run by friendly people, it really is worth a visit. I like playing with the manual typewriter best !
