Description: Situated in a beautiful location just off Shaftesbury High Street in lovely Dorset the cafe serves delicious world and home vegetarian cuisine, freshly squeezed juices, smoothies & shakes, organic coffee & tea, homemade gluten free cakes, fine wines and cocktails. We bake our own spelt wheat bread, cakes, brownies and flapjacks. The menu offers food for vegan, gluten and dairy free diets and also caters for children. The walls of the old stable premises are adorned with rare & vintage vinyl which is also for sale. We have recently turned our function room into a fully stocked bar - onThursday, Friday and Saturday evenings we are open serving cocktails & carefully selected wines & beers, & we host regular live music nights as well as themed food evenings. Enjoy sitting by the bespoke log fire on a chilly night, or when it's sunny you can soak up the rays in our courtyard. At Beggars' Banquet it is our intention to serve delicious wholesome food in a relaxed atmosphere, where people can meet and greet, find out what's happening locally or just chill out and spend valuable solo time.

“Beggars' Banquet Cafe”

Just had lunch here - what a wonderful place! The food was exactly what I love - delicious combinations of halloumi, avocado, buffalo motzarella, mixed leaves, baby plumb tomatoes, gorgeous warm freshly baked spelt bread - well, I could have happily had anything on the menu! And VERY reasonable prices. Lovely surroundings, lovely staff, relaxed informal atmosphere. Well, it's just my kind of heaven and I will definitely be going there again, and taking friends with me. I shall be spreading the word because this place is special!

“FRESH VEG, JUST COOKED -YUM!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 June 2014 via mobile

I had the full English breakfast but without the sausage and eggs, after initial surprise it was no problem and there was a tasty vegan breakfast ..... The potatoes in particular were done to perfection
Not easy to find, but then food of this quality is hard to find
I liked the separation of the teas and coffees from the dining area
The fresh orange juice is just the job to quench a thirst and cleanse the palate
Thoroughly recommend this establishment

“A quirky vegi cafe/ restaurant in a lovely location”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 April 2014 via mobile

The location is great with a nice sunny( on the day we visited) courtyard and the building is quite attractive in a rustic/ folky way. The menu was interesting with a good variety of dishes and the fresh orange juice was excellent. My only two complaints are, firstly the service was really slow, we had to wait about 30 minutes for our light lunchroom arrive. Secondly, and very important from a customers perspective, the staff were having a bit of a domestic, bickering and obviously some bad vibes which filtered out to the customers. this is really not acceptable.

Firstly, i'd like to thank you for your kind words about our cafe and then i must apologise for how long it took for you to receive your lunch. Our kitchen is very small and everything is cooked fresh so sometimes it takes longer than it should do. For this i can only apologise and offer you a drink on the house next time you come in as a token of our appreciation of your custom. As far as the bickering goes, as you said this is unacceptable and i wholeheartedly apologise if this had an effect on your experience at our cafe. We are a family run business, so sometimes it can get a little heated in the kitchen! I hope that this hasn't put you off visting us in the future and i assure you it is not a regular occurrence. Many thanks and hope to see you at the cafe again soon.

“Quirky little cafe”

The menu is veggie and we had a really good tasting Thali at one of their open evenings. I don't think they are open in the day, sadly.
