Description: Seated atop a hill in the heart of the Dorset countryside, Compton Abbas Airfield restaurant is perfect for a wake up breakfast, casual lunch or scrumptious afternoon tea. We use locally sourced ingredients where we can, and are often voted the best of our kind in the country. Everyone is welcome at Compton. Most of our visitors are in fact not pilots but people who just enjoy our stunning location, unrivaled views from the restaurant & runway terrace - and of course great food.

Invited up here by a friend for lunch.

Most tables overlook the airfield with good views of surrounding hills and countryside

Good fish pie (and chips) followed by a walk, then Dorset Pudding washed down with tea.

A bit out of the way, but if you want lunch with a difference then worth the trek.

We went to the airfield on a Sunday morning. We had a job to find the place and did not expect much when we got there. We were in for a pleasant surprise however. We both had a fulfilling and tasty breakfast, served promptly and without fuss. Two hearty meals that did not break the bank and set us up for the rest of the day. Not many plane movements, but what a lovely place!

I visit here quite regularly and the welcome is always warm and friendly. In the summer you can eat outside and the cakes are particularly worth mention. A great place to bring kids, too.

A most unusual place to dine. Basically a private airfield where take offs and landings go hand in hand whilst you eat in the airfield restaurant. On a bright sunny day you can sit on the terrace and watch the comings and goings at your leisure. Have been a regular visitor for a few years, taking a variety of friends and relations to either eat or have the opportunity to take a flight. (booking advisable) The menu is quite varied and most tastes are catered for, with indoor or outdoor dining areas. Be prepared to wait a while when the place is busy. This isn't a problem if you enjoy looking at planes or the great view. This is a very popular place to eat most of the year round and the atmosphere is very relaxing and the staff are friendly. I can't think of a negative thing to say about the place. It is our favourite family place to go and have lunch. Any age, pretty much any day of the year, never dull and good value for money. Great, freshly cooked food with the added bonus of the fantastic location and watching all the planes come and go.. Can't go wrong!

On holiday in this part of the world and looking to escape the incessant rain. Saw this place advertised and thought it would be somewhere a bit different for breakfast.
Had the 'Full Compton' - which for some unknown reason wasn't described on the menu or blackboard so we didn't know exactly what we'd get,
Turned out it was a nicely cooked Full English - reasonably good value for money too, although one rasher of bacon and half a tomato is hardly generous.
Tea a bit stewed. However the great view from the huge windows almost made up for the deficiencies inside.
Good for the novelty value but wouldn't rush back.
