“Just a lovely place to stay!”
Reviewed 11 August 2012

We have just returned after spending 2 nights at Rose Cottage. All the previous reviews say it all! Mary is very warm and friendly and makes you feel at home, the cottage is very pretty and in a good location no more than 5 minutes walk to the Abbey and pretty streets. We would definately recommend staying here, as you get a lovely room with an amazing bed where you are guaranteed a good night's sleep and wont want to get out of it in the morning! Breakfast was lovely too with quality food, home made marmalade and jam (try the ginger marmalade, it's lovely!) and very nice fresh fruit (not tinned!!!), yogurt and porridge on offer, not to mention cereals and as much toast and tea as you want. Sherborne is a very pretty place too, and we would recommend visiting the new castle and taking a tour of the town on Friday at 11am from the tourist information centre..not missing the beautiful Abbey...a delightful place to visit, we didn't want to leave! Thank you Mary, we loved Rose Cottage!

Room Tip: Mary has two rooms, one double and one twin, we stayed in the double, both rooms looked lovely!

We had a lovely stay for two nights at the beginning of August 2012. Mary's welcome to this homely B & B was wonderful. The room was small but perfectly formed, and bed in the twin room was very comfortable. The shower room was more than adequate, and all in all very comfortable.

Now to the breakfast...Well you must try the ginger marmalade, after the full cooked breakfast of course. If you want gallons of superb cafetiere coffee it seems to be never ending.

How would I sum up..Well we have made a friend in Mary, and we would love to visit again. She even gave us the marmalade recipe. Oh I almost forgot, the wifi works very well!

Rose Cottage is in the centre of Sherbourne, aptly named for all the roses and other flowers in the front and back gardens, just a short walk from the train station, pub, restaurants, castle, shops, and everything else Sherbourne, England has to offer.

Hostess Mary is extremely accomodating, treating us like family, offering a fresh cup of tea the moment we arrived, and feeding us the best breakfast I have for a very long time: Fresh cooked mushrooms, Selection of Mary's own homemade jams and marmalades, Mary's own Muslix, Fresh bread, and other locally sourced fresh items.

The bedroom had an ensuite bath, endless supply of hot water, handmade quilts, fresh flowers, comfy beds, WiFi, and was fastidiously clean and tidy.

Overall a fabulous place to stay---we hated to have to leave.

We had a lovely couple of nights stay at Mary's B&B, it is a lovely house with a warm welcome. The rooms are extremely clean and very comfortable, with nice ensuite bathrooms, exactly as they look on the website.
Mary is the perfect host, friendly and nothing is too much trouble, and needless to say she cooks a brilliant breakfast! I most certainly hope to return sometime soon.

We spent two nights in this cosy and welcoming B&B which made our short stay in Sherborne very special. Mary was the perfect host and the double room was well equipped and comfortable. The location in a parallel road to the high street was quiet but gives easy access to the charming town. The breakfast was fantastic with many options and local produce used including homemade museli and jams. Mary was knowledgeable and helpful about Sherborne and the surrounding area. I would not hesitate in recommending this B&B as a perfect place for a couple.
