The reason i stayed at the half moon is that its a short walk to my mums Nursing home.I stayed in a single room.Had a lovely stay, the staff where so friendly.I'm staying again in October for 2 nights but there where no single rooms but they went out of there way and they have given me a double for the price of a single. The food is so tasty and fresh and great choice. The breakfast is outstanding. If your not staying in the hotel try there food you will enjoy and you will have a great evening out.

This is a Marston's Inn, based directly in the centre of Sherborne.
It has its own car park, which is free if you are staying in the hotel.
The rooms as adequate, good facilities and clean.
Breakfast is a mix of help-yourself cereal and juice, then served hot breakfast.
Was disappointed that I was only given one piece of toasted bread with my scrambled eggs and beans, and there was no forthcoming visit to the table to see if I wanted toast and marmalade / jam.

Apart from that, all good and a great inn to stay and visit the area!

Thank you for your welcome. We are a french Family, we arrived late at the hotel, the welcome was very nice. Rooms are large and very clean with good services. English breakfast was very good, fresh, excellent coffee. We recommend this hotel, the pub is nice too with a good athmosphere. Thanks again for your welcome

Room Tip: Rooms on the back side are quieter

We just did an overnight here, but would come again. The room was at least adequate, if a little dated: adequate shelving and hanging space, and not cramped. Dinner, in the bar, was like a somewhat upmarket Wetherspoons (though far from expensive). Plenty of parking. Location is hard to beat - just across the road from the Abbey. And yes, staff are very friendly and welcoming. It lacks a lift, but staff are helpful at getting luggage up stairs.

Recommended.

Room Tip: Try to get a first floor room!

I stayed here for two nights, the Inn is a very short distance from the Abbey, and the Shops and within walking distance of the two Castles.
I had a single room, which was very spacious, and the Bathroom was well equipped.
The Half Moon seems very popular, and was quite busy in the evenings.
However it was not particularly noisy, although my room over looked the rear, not the front of the property.
The decor in the room was acceptable, and I had no complaints.
I ate in the Half Moon both evenings, and the food was very good, and reasonable priced, also if you are a resident you get a discount on your food, which was well worth having!
It is also worth pointing out that there is a separate side entrance, which means you do not have to push way through a busy Pub, to get to your room.
The staff were polite and friendly, and helpful.

It is worth pointing out though that this is a busy working Pub, they do take in deliveries, and there is liable to be Pub noise, I did overhear another guest complaining about the early morning deliveries, but that's to be expected in a Pub surely!

All in all, good value, good location, what more can you ask!

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the rear if you want a quieter room.

I've only eaten/drank here so I can't comment on the accommodation side. The food is 'International' but unpretentious; there are good special offers on 2 meals, and the quality is fair. A few real ales and a large eating area. Can get a bit noisy weekends. As I have not overnighted here ratings are based on reputation alone.

We enjoyed our stay. Staff were nice and friendly. Good location, good food, good value for money. Would recommend at a good price. The Inn is right in the middle of the town. The staff were fine with us leaving our car in the car park on the day of departure so we could stroll around the town.
