We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Hay Barn which was cosy, clean and very well equipped. A great place to stay if you want to explore the Sherborne area.

“Quiet retreat but ideal for exploring rural Dorset”
Reviewed 26 May 2017 for a stay in May 2017

Great instructions from Sarah to find this place, which are needed as you will not be disappointed if you are seeking rural solitude.
The Hay Barn is a compact, warm and comfortable property. There are other rentals to the rear of the property but these were unoccupied during our stay. We were met by the friendly and welcoming owner Sarah and after that our only "contact" was with the twice daily parade of dairy cows which pass down the lane at the side of the property!
The Hay Barn is in a good location if you are looking to explore some of Dorset's towns and rural areas. Indeed Wells in Somerset is not far away.

“Lovely quiet place with modern kitchen, very comfortable bed and new bathroom”
Reviewed 17 April 2017 for a stay in April 2017

We had a lovely stay here. It was nice and warm - heating set to 20C. Everything was newish and very clean and welcoming. The bed was wide and really comfortable, the kitchen was well equipped and modern with a microwave and oven. The bathroom and good shower looked new. There was no live television but there was Netflix. There were scones and jam and cream when we arrived - delicious. Chickens and sheep were in a field nearby - nice, rural setting but only about 9 minutes from Sherborne by car.

“A perfect country retreat”
Reviewed 3 January 2017 for a stay in December 2016

The Hay Barn is a cozy 1 bedroom let, & is a perfect country getaway/ retreat for either a couple or small family.
The barn is renovated to a high standard, with great amenities, lovely kitchen (including washing machine & oven), great shower/ bathroom, log burner etc. There is an adjoining let but we found it no problem, the barn was both private & quiet.
Sarah (owner) was incredibly helpful arranging a last minute let during the Xmas period for us (while she was on holiday), so huge kudos for that.
The location is absolutely fantastic for exploring north Dorset (& Somerset/ Wiltshire). The Hay Barn itself is situated in a quiet, rural farm/ village but is within easy reach of many fabulous local towns - Sherborne, Yeovil, Sturminster Newton, Blandford, Shaftsbury, Dorchester etc. - Salisbury (& Poole) are also within an hours drive.
There are a huge number of beauty/ spots/ local attractions to visit (the list literally goes on & on) - Glastonbury Tor, the Magna Carta at Salisbury Cathedral, Stonehenge, Avebury, Eggardon & Hambledon Hill, Maiden Castle - a name but a few. Lots of great pubs & local restaurants also in the immediate area.
Finally, there is George the friendly farm cat :) Highly recommended.

“A lovely romantic stay 😊”
Reviewed 5 November 2016 for a stay in November 2016

The Haybarn is a beautiful-The photos on here do not do the place justice- it is cosy, clean and very well equipped. We wanted a romantic weekend in the countryside and were so pleased with our stay. I loved the the fire and waking up to the cows! The whole place was really cosy and we had a very relaxing break. Sarah and the cat were very welcoming hosts and communication was excellent- she gave us some fantastic suggestions for dinner. I would highly recommend and hope to return soon. Thank you for a lovely stay.
