Cindy brought the history of Sherborne alive during this fascinating walking tour. Highly knowledgeable, she spoke about the people and events that have shaped the town down through the centuries, and presented it all in a very engaging and entertaining way.
I did not have much knowledge of British history, but after joining the tour with Cindy, I have learnt more. Cindy is very knowledgable. If i wandered by myself, i would not noticed important places. A recommended walking tour indeed.
Our guide, Cindy, was quite a character - she brought history to life.
Even in the short distance we walked we learnt so much, saw things we could otherwise easily miss, and given pointers for our own follow-up later - The Abbey, Almshouses, School, Raleigh, architecture, . . . – backed with illustrated folder, anecdotes, incidents, and colourful local dialect cameos.
Cindy clearly is most knowledgeable, interested in her visitors, and engages their attention in a most informative and entertaining way.
The guide is such a beautiful lady who showed me around Sherborne about its history, arquitectura and places to visit. Great experience.
Don't miss out on booking a fabulous tour of Sherborne with the delightful Cindy. With much knowledge to impart and brilliantly entertaining, Cindy had us captivated with tales of past and present. Pop into the Tourist Information Centre.....you won't be disappointed!
Spent a lovely sunny morning walking with Cindy the local blue badge guide getting an insight into the history of Sherborne. Have lived in the area for 15 years however do not know the history behind the town and its buildings.
Met the guide at the Tourist Information Office in Digby Road (the road opposite Sherborne Abbey) at 10.30 am. Walks take place twice a week Tuesday and Thursday and last approximately 2 hours and cost £6 per person.
No heavy walking involved, the walk is contained within the area of the Abbey (although does not include going into the Abbey) and the area of Sherborne Boys School. Details involved the past history of Sherborne through the ages including the inpact of WW2 on the town and the various types of architecture.
Cindy is very interesting to listen to and has a lovely sense of humour. The time disappeared all too quickly and the tour could have gone on longer. On a sunny day a perfect way to learn more about the town. Well worth taking a tour.
