“Lovely friendly and great location”

Lovely and friendly people. Very welcoming especially to families with children. Very nice clean room (no.8) and excellent breakfast. Great location, just about 200m from beach and 10mins walk to town centre. Would definitely recommend and return.

Room Tip: Room 8 is perfect for families with young children as it has a twin room next to the double so great...

The Castleton maintains its exceptionally high standards year-in year-out, with spotlessly clean and well maintained rooms and superb cooked breakfasts that are both tasty and healthy. My husband and I stayed in Room 3 again (our favourite), which has a king-sized bed, seating area and a shower with strong water pressure. Thoughtfully, Julian (the helpful, friendly and engaging owner) had provided a fan and a spare sheet (in case we wished to discard the duvet) in the room. Maggie's poached eggs were as superb as ever. This is definitely the place to stay in Swanage - we came across it 4 years ago when we were looking for an alternative to the Grand Hotel where we had been put in a pokey, shabby room by indifferent staff who couldn't care less whether or not guests were enjoying their stay. Julian and Maggie, on the other hand, go out of their way to help their guests have a fantastic break. We have already booked the Castleton for next year!

Room Tip: Room 3 is a good size and has an excellent shower.

Agree with the positive comments of other reviewers. Affable hosts, comfortable beds, high standard of cleanliness, well functioning showers, excellent breakfast and wifi. A short walk to town and beach and the pub across the street has good food. A plus for those traveling alone is a single room at a reduced rate on the third floor. Great value for money in this setting.

Room Tip: A single room on third floor if traveling alone is available. The front room on ground floor was co...

Julian and Maggie are incredibly welcoming to all their guests, including myself and my friends who are also regulars because of the exceptional quality of this B & B.

The facilities are of a very high standard, the rooms spotlessly clean and little extras very welcome in a world full of mediocre accommodation.

The breakfast menu is extensive with all tastes catered for. I'm a vegetarian and love the full English breaky they serve ...complete with the best veggie sausages I've tasted!

The location is very good, just a minute or two from the quieter end of the beach. The Bull and Boat (formerly Ocean Bay) at the bottom of the hill is perfect for a pre bed coffee on the way back from an evening in town.

Swanage is still a great place to visit and unlike Weymouth and Bournemouth manages to remain relevant while avoiding the tackyness often associated with the British seaside. It has also escaped the over development which has ruined other seaside towns.

I stayed for two nights with my wife and 12 yo daughter in a family room (room 5) in June. This is a lovely B&B in a great location. The hosts were great and the breakfast was awesome. The room was a good size but really well laid out. Facilities were of a good standard.

Another great stay at The Castleton and thanks to Julian, Maggie and their team. Our third stay here and will return again in September. Lovely bright, clean rooms - stayed in Rooms 4 and 5, moved to accommodate us with an additional night's stay. As always a very good breakfast to set you up for the day. The best.

Room Tip: Have stayed in Rooms 1,2,3,5 and 9 over various trips. Room 3 has a side sea view with a bath for th...

A brilliant find....and I'm hard to please! Lovely setting 100 yards from a safe beach, exceptional rooms, very friendly owners who really want to make your stay as comfortable as you do. The breakfasts are first class in terms of choice, quality and cooking.
Swanage is a lovey Dorse town and we think the Castleton is the best B & B there. Will be back!
