Just a one night stay, but made to feel exceptionally welcome by Sue and wished we were staying longer! The nighttime treat and superb cooked breakfast were particular highlights.

Would recommend to anyone visiting Swanage as I can't believe there is anywhere else this good!

Stayed here for just the one night in April while we were setting up our caravan in Swanage and we found the room to be well equipped recently refurbished and comfortable, Sue was very welcoming and the breakfast was probably the best we've ever had in a guest house. Wouldn't it be great if all such places could be as good as this!

Sue gave us a very warm welcome and we were made to feel like old friends. We stayed in room one which was immaculately decorated and has a balcony. There were tea and coffee facilities. There was fresh milk and filtered water kept in a fridge in the room (silent running fridge). The bed was very comfortable too.

When we came back in the evening, a small chest of drawers in the hallway with a dedicated drawer for each room, had treats left in it by our host. What a lovely touch which made us feel special.

Breakfast was perfect; Lovely fresh fruit salad, cereals, yoghurt, home made bread, and not forgetting the full English. I also tried the freshly made waffles, bacon and maple syrup different but in a good way....

This bed and breakfast is quite simply faultless. We would love to stay here again.

Thank you Sue. x

Stayed at Sue's again for a three day bank holiday stay, we stay here several times a year and can honestly say it gets better and better, all the thoughtful little touches it what makes this guest house stand out. We love staying with Sue so much we actually hired out the whole guest house for a family wedding and had our family and friends in the other rooms. I could not recommend a stay here highly enough and we have already booked in our next visit.

This is probably one of the best, if not THE best, guest houses we have stayed in. Sue runs it with great efficiency, humour and hospitality. The room we had, which was at the top, in the front of the building, was very comfortable. The en suite was excellent, and the shower was amazingly powerful considering we were right at the top of the house. The little touches that Sue adds, especially the treats she puts in a little drawer down in the lobby, are things that guests will remember, adding to the homely experience. The breakfasts were perfect, with a huge amount of choice on offer. We'll definitely be back!

We booked in here for two nights in the rainy back end of April 2014. We arrived a bit early but on ringing were told to come right over and drop our things. We were given a very warm welcome by Sue and shown to our room we were very pleased, the room was well appointed, spacious, comfortable, clean and well decorated the end suite was also fine.
We chose the full Dorset breakfast for both days, beware, unless you are a big eater perhaps choose the separate items. There were also all types of cereal, yogurts and a delicious freshly made fruit salad
All in all a most enjoyable stay at "A great escape" would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: Our room was at the back but the street is a cultural development sac so traffic is mimimal There i...

The worst thing about this visit to Sue's little hideaway was that it was only one night long. As an enroute stopover on a cycling tour it was perfect - a cheery greeting and immaculate room. Somewhere safe to park the bikes too. It's the little extras I notice - especially as we had been on a Premier Inn the night before. Ample tea and coffee - proper milk in the fridge. A wonderful breakfast to help us up the hills - almost making lunch superfluous.
Have only been once before but it was as lovely as ever - I am a fan of Great Escape - it is above of the ordinary. (And close to the Black Swan - with good beer and great food)

Room Tip: The bigger first floor double room at the front is the best of the the (two) rooms I have been in...
