We recently stayed at the Louisa Lodge & Purbeck House Hotel for two nights and really enjoyed our stay. The hotel is in a great location on the hill in Swanage and is close to the local pubs, restaurants and cafes whilst being very quiet. The gardens are lovely and I imagine a great place to relax in the summer.

Our room had all the modern conveniences needed and was simmply furnished. The family room was large and clean. The staff were also really friendly and attentive - and even helped send a shirt back to me after I left it there by mistake. A full cooked breakfast was also available every morning. A great base for our stay and we would stay here again.

My son and I visited Swanage and stayed at the Purbeck House, we were allocated to Louisa Lodge and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The accommodation was modern and spacious with everything we needed, including TV, internet access, comfortable beds and selection of drinks. The hotel itself is a very grand old building and despite being a 3 star does seem deserving of more. The next morning we enjoyed a fairly leisurely breakfast before venturing out. Despite us only staying for one night we were able to leave the car in the hotel car park until we were ready to leave in late afternoon. Lovely hotel, very friendly service, couldn't ask for more.

This was a lovely character hotel, the staff were friendly & accomodating. We spent two nights here during a stormy/rainy February weekend and thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Although we didnt experience the resteraunt during our stay - breakfast was nicely cooked and there was plenty of choice on offer!

Beautiful hotel, full of character. Staff v friendly and helpful (handy when you have an active toddler). Our family room in Louisa Lodge was simply furnished, plenty of room for our child to play and plenty of storage. Would definitely stay here again, when the storms have subsided!

Room Tip: Louisa Lodge is good for families esp on the ground floor. Space in lobby to store buggy/wellies.

We recently spent one night in the Louisa Lodge section of the Purbeck House hotel in Swanage. Our night was spent in a room with a balcony and sea view, this was a lovely room which had everything we needed with the addition of the outside area. Unfortunately there was no furniture on the balcony to sit and just watch the surroundings but we could have always used the two chairs from inside our room if we needed to. We had a couple of drinks upon our return to the hotel and were served by Damian who was tending the bar for the night and we again were served by him at breakfast time and again we would very impressed with his manner and professionalism. The breakfast was very good indeed, we helped ourselves to buffet cold items and then had a full english breakfast which was in my opinion one of the best we have ever had. It was all cooked to perfection and arrived piping hot to our table. We would definately use this hotel again if we ever need to visit Swanage again.

Room Tip: Choose a superior room or one with the balcony and sea view in Louisa Lodge. In better weather the b...

My wife and I stayed at this hotel for two nights. We stayed in the Louisa building. The room was large and clean. We unpacked and then my wife sat on the bed and sunk nearly to the floor. The mattress on my wife's side and my side were completely useless( two single beds pushed together). They were not solid and springs were bulging at the side. To be honest I could not be bothered to walk down to the main building and complain. We went out into the town, but did not tell reception about the mattress. We returned later on in the evening, having had a few beers !!! and went to bed. It was a terrible sleep, luckily we had been drinking so it was not until we got up in the morning that we felt the effects of the mattress. We informed reception and hoped that the duff beds would be changed. This did not happen because when we came back from town the duff beds were still there. Again I could not be bothered to complain and basically put up with them. The hotel itself is definitely 3 star. There was mould on the wall by the window a handle was missing from the window and generally the main building is old and tired. The staff are pleasant. The breakfast was just about ok. We will not be returning.

Room Tip: If you get allocated room 21 in the Louisa building, ask about the mattress.

Didn't stay there but booked dinner for two as non-residents. Lovely, personal attention in splendid environs, and the meal was excellent. But the car park was a long walk from the main hotel and there were no lights in the car park or on the paths, so getting from the car park and back again was really difficult. I left my husband at the hotel entrance so he wouldn't have to walk back to the car, and found myself in a one-way system to get out, so I couldn't pick him up from there - all a bit of an anticlimax to what was otherwise a lovely evening
