We stayed here with a group of friends for one night over a perfect June weekend. The hotel is perhaps a little tired and in need of refurbishment but this didn't spoil our stay. Our room was clean, well-decorated and the beds very comfortable. We didn't have a sea view as this was extra and unnecessary for our short stay but I imagine the views from the rooms with a sea-view are stunning and worth the additional cost. The rooms looking out to the back still have a pleasant view of hills however. Breakfast was good and the staff were friendly and efficient, even providing us with a special request - cucumber sandwiches and a cream tea in the garden. I think the hotel is perhaps over-priced but worth it for the location and the excellent beach just below the hotel.

Room Tip: Try the first and second floors for a room with a sea view. Ask for a room that has been refurbishe...

Having bought a lunch deal from Travel Zoo, we headed there on a rather wet and miserable day which was a shame because the the Conservatory we ate in would have been wonderful on a sunny day with it's beautiful views of Swanage Bay. However our conversation was drowned out by a very very heavy deluge of water, probably from an overflow beating down non-stop onto the corrugated roof above us. We could choose from very basic spring set menu, with only 3 choices on each course. The food was some of the worst I've had in a long time. If you wanted potatoes with the main fish course it was extra, and then it was frozen chips!! All the food we had was very small portions, and of poor quality. From the other reviews it seems the food in the main restaurant for the residents is a good deal better. I know it was a meal deal but it wasn't even worth the money we paid. However the waitress was brilliant, so friendly and professional. The building is very tired and tatty, with peeling paint everywhere. This is a shame because it has the best location in Swanage. If this offer was to get people to return....it didn't work, quite the opposite.

I had a great time at this hotel, the staff were friendly and helpful and the location is brilliant, a very short stroll to the lovely beach and great views! The weather wasn't great but I guess that is to be expected. My room had everything I needed and was very clean. Would recommend this for a good value night or two away...

Wonderful location perched up on the hill looking straight out over the bay. I booked a sea view room which in my opinion is a must, no need to draw the curtains! The room was a good size, clean and comfortable and although the bathroom was basic everything worked. We ate dinner in the hotel which was good and reasonable value as was breakfast. The service was professional and friendly.

Room Tip: We were in 203 2nd floor and only the weather was disappointing!

Checked out several places for our relatives and friends to stay during our wake celebration. This was the very best. Great manager who listened and gave us very good group rates as well as provide fabulous catering and open bar arrangements for the actual wake too. Stunning sea views.

Room Tip: All the rooms allocated to our friends and relatives were wonderful. Just book and enjoy.

We had a two night stay at this hotel, perfect location with its own private stairs down to the beach. Rooms were very dated, bed creaky, shower weak flowing. The breakfast was lovely with a good choice.a two night stay with a sea view cost £240

My wife and I had a midweek break from 30th April. On entering the hotel we felt immediately relaxed. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the views from the conservatory were quite spectacular. We were allocated room 203, on the second floor where we had the same view across the bay. The room was large, very clean, as was everywhere else in the hotel, and had a high ceiling. An absolute bonus was that the lighting was actually bright enough to read by, unlike many other hotels. The garden is beautifully maintained with benches facing out to sea and at the side a path leads to steps that take you down to the beach where small cafes are found. From here it is a short walk down to the town. The bus stops, a short walk away, offering trips to Corfe Castle and Wareham in one direction and to Bournemouth via the ferry in the other. We were lucky enough to have two days of sunshine during our stay and the staff put out sun beds and parasols. It was just like being in Spain! The weather was so good that we didn't get to use the pool or the gym, but we did have a game of table tennis You can get to the room straight from the garden. Breakfast and service were good and we appreciated the white table cloths and the use of tea pots and cups, no mugs. We didn't eat in the hotel in the evening but one night went to the local pub at the end of the road. This is called the Crows Nest, which we would thoroughly recommend. Overall we had two lovely days and really enjoyed our break. Thanks to Lindsay and her team.
