A warm, friendly hotel with well serviced bedrooms, fabulous views but beginning to feel a little in need of improved plumbing and updated bathrooms. There was a smell from the drainage in the bathroom and in the ladies downstairs. Breakfast was disappointing with no quality food and we ended up eating croissants which were OK. Not impressed that the Poached Haddock we received for breakfast was going off and we didn't eat it and although this was mentioned freshly brought in Haddock was not offered to us the next day. We would have really liked this for breakfast. We heard the Kedgeree was off in the evening which is not surprising. Given the poor quality of the breakfast, may be to many people's taste but not ours, we only had bar snacks in the evening. These were acceptable but nothing more. We didn't dare risk the dinner and went out for our main meals. We are fussy about quality local food and understand that this raises costs but claims should not be made for good food.

Room Tip: Always choose a sea view that is what this hotel is all about.

Would highly recommend for a Sunday lunch, followed by a stroll along the sands and back for tea in their sunny conservatory which has a stunning view over the bay. May try a bar meal the next time, or just pop in for a coffee, as we live too nearby to really justify staying.

We stayed here for two nights on a kgb voucher deal. We had a beautiful view from our room which was room 210. The room was very spacious with a nice ensuite, and very clean, and very warm. The receptionist was very pleasant and helpful and the staff that served us at breakfast time were very professional and polite. The hotel has a conservatory that also has a view over the bay and they serve a lovely high tea for visitors, which looked very nice. The hotel. I suppose, is quite old fashioned in some ways, which suits us, and I must admit the lift did give us a bit of a giggle every time it landed. It had room for three people and you did know when you had arrived at your floor. There were a few spaces for parking but there seemed to be no trouble parking in the street. The location was good, a nice walk along the prom into the nice town of swanage. We would be happy to stay here again.

Following a previous review The Grand invited myself and my family back for a return visit.

At the end of the day The Grand will always be a little rough arohnd the edges until some
serious money is spent on it and the bathroom and plumbing is updated.

However everything that we found completely unacceptable before appears to have been put right - the rules in restaurant have gone and are now family friendly and the staff were pleasant and helpfull.

If you can get a room with a seaview it is so worth it as the view at all times of the day is special.

Well overall although we are not planning to return to Swanage in the short term, if we did we would return to The Grand.

We booked at last minute for my wife and I's wedding anniversary, and what an absolute gem. A real old fashioned hotel, Great breakfast cooked to order, none off that old dried up stuff on a buffet and very attentive staff. i reported the radiator in our room needed bleeding as it wasn't giving out much heat, and it was fixed when we returned. We ate in the restaurant on the first night and was very pleased with our meal, bar prices are very good for a hotel bar. so if you are looking for a nice old fashion sea-side hotel look no further than the Grand Hotel Swanage.

Room Tip: Pay for the sea view its well worth it

For my full impressions of this delightful hotel please read my previous review, I am pleased to advise that the same standards are still as immaculate in all respects.

My Wife and I have just returned from a supurb lunch, the friendly and efficient service, the food, the comfort, and the general ambience were all absolutely perfect, and of course the wonderful vista of Swanage Bay.

Before closing I must mention and thank the Chef for "something special". For her desert my Wife chose 'sticky toffee pudding with butterscotch sauce' only to be advised that unfortunately the butterscotch sauce was out of stock and she elected to have the pudding served with ice cream instead..........imagine her delight and suprise when it was served: the pudding, the ice cream, in a pool of butterscotch sauce! and the waiter's comment "Chef has made it especially for you" He or She deserves a medal 'cause it made her day!..........THANK YOU.

Exceptional! The Grand Hotel is just that! EXCEPTIONAL!!!!
