“Great Sea Views!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 June 2014

Had no idea what this hotel would be like as found it via Booking.com but the views on trip advisor looked okay. Was only staying here one night on road trip around SW England with Lady John. Had tried unsuccessfully to find somewhere to stay in Studland so this was second choice.

Was given a room that overlooked Swanage Bay although had not asked for a room with a sea view so for that reason alone it gets my seal of approval!

General decor could perhaps do with an update but otherwise okay, like previous reviewer I was disappointed to find that there was no direct access to the beach and also that the gate leading out on to the coastal path was locked on the 2 occasions I would have like to use it, due I understand to a dispute with neighbours!

Good breakfast!

I would recommend staying here.

We stayed here on the 6th June 2014 for a couple of nights. The weather was beautiful which made the stay even better.

We had the seaview/balcony. The superior room was clean and spacious with a double bed and twin beds. Perfect for a family. Very relaxing and quiet. We did struggle to find the room on first arrival, all the room numbers were a little spread out down little corridors.

With a 20 minute walk into swanage it's in the perfect location, staff were efficient and very friendly

To make it even better dogs were allowed, just a little awkward at breakfast since they aren't allowed in the dining area. We would have liked to have breakfast out side, but didn't want to ask since the tables were all set up.

we would certainly come back again.

Room Tip: the superior sea room is perfect for a family.

Great location. Great value. Old school (i.e. you have to order your cornflakes and orange juice at breakfast from you pre-assigned table).

Everyone polite, friendly, reminded me of bank holiday weekends in the late seventies as a treat from our usual family camping holidays. Free wifi though so they have moved with the times.

We will go again.

Boden points: 7: for the retro kitsch that SW Londoners (i.e. non-Crouch Enders) can cope with, good value and lovely views.

Room Tip: The 'mountain view' includes a free view of th ecar park, but it is small.

Just returned from a long weekend staying at Pines Hotel with family, 2 Adults 2 Children. Second visit to this hotel and would defiantly recommend staying here. Friendly staff, accommodation was clean, the food was great and the hotel had plenty of parking spaces.

Room Tip: The rooms which have sea view are more updated but the other rooms are clean just slightly dated.

We had a great stay after visiting around 4 years before for the first time. The hotel has great views, which means you should opt for a sea view of you can. The garden is smaller than when we first came as there's been some land slides. There also used to be private stairs to the beach (a major draw for us) but these disappeared in the landslide. The description on booking.com hasn't been updated to reflect this so that was the only real negative point. You can still get down fairly quickly around the corner. Breakfast was good and we got upgraded to a balcony room (which we'd probably go for anyway next time as it's such a great view and you can heard the sea while you sleep).

I stayed with my Mum for a long weekend from 16-19 May and we were blessed with amazing weather! The hotel is wonderful situated in a residential area, walking distance from the town centre, and very quiet at night.

We had a suite which had 2 rooms, a twin and double, with 1 bathroom. The double has the balcony overlooking the sea. The room was based at one end of the hotel which meant it was quiet, with no passing traffic to other rooms and away from the lift.

The rooms' amenities were excellent, with both rooms having a TV and tea-making facilities. The beds were comfortable and there was plenty of room to move around. The only advice I would give (personally) would be to facilitate each room with a hairdryer as the box blowing out hot air from a tube in the bathroom is uncomfortable to use and has insufficient power to dry hair efficiently (not good for the elderly, as Mum discovered!).

The public areas were roomy, light and airy. The restaurant has lovely views over the sea - we were seated by the window - and the food was excellent. We were there on a half board basis and found the breakfast options to be hearty and wholesome. The service was a little quick on occasions at dinner, the main arriving just after the starter had been cleared, but that didn't detract from our enjoyment. The staff were always efficient, professional and friendly.

We will return!!

Room Tip: Corner suites were quiet with no passing traffic.

We - 26 Ramblers - stayed 4 nights at The Pines, a perfect base for walkers, set as it is in a stunning position away from the town, close to the cliff edge with direct access to the South West Coast Path. The half board group rate was very competitive. The hotel was very comfortable, in a quiet cul de sac..I have given rooms 4* only because 2 of our party had to ask to be moved to another room due to a plumbing problem, The food was of a consistently high quality (some dishes were outstandingly good). The service was also excellent (despite the size of our party it was quick, efficient, friendly and polite) Barry Holt and his staff could not have done more to make us welcome, to meet our particular needs as walkers and to make our stay an enjoyable one. I can unreservedly recommend this hotel - especially to those thinking of a group walking break in this very beautiful corner of Dorset

Room Tip: Ask for a seaview room (for which, unfortunately) there is a premium - but worth it)
