“Barman needs Maths lessons!”
Reviewed 20 September 2013

We arrived at 12:45 from a coach. The one group in front of me ordered 3 £12 lunches which required using a machine for calculation and took 15 minutes. I ordered after 20 minutes and we received our food at 1:30 - coach leaving at 2:00 and I was with very slow-walking older friend.
Food was average with fish plonked on top of chips and dish of peas. Euro tomatoes and brown stalks on salad leaves.
No time to eat it all before walk back. The staff in this place seem disorganised and incompetent and slow, very slow. Costs were high for pub food.

“Good value and unpretentious”
Reviewed 10 September 2013

After an energetic and muddy walk on the Downs and through the woods we didn't feel like sitting in a restaurant setting eating "gourmet" food so we chose this pub on two consecutive nights . The menu is quite short and simple and there were specials which varied over the two nights. The Steak and Stilton pie was a delicious piping hot slice of meaty goodness with good chips and veggies. A chicken breast with brie and bacon was served with lovely mustard sauced saute potatoes. The beer was good, the portions big, the prices keen and the service as you would expect in a pub.

“A frequent haunt”
Reviewed 7 September 2013

We sometimes eat a Sunday roast here, always good and value for money. We also pop in for coffee in the mornings, to sit under shades outside. They make a good cappuchino! And do refills of filter coffee. Lovely olde worlde pub inside, and other meals being served always look appetising.

“Poor service”
Reviewed 10 August 2013

We stopped just for lunch on a not very busy Monday about 1 . The barman was offhand, we ordered two ploughmans, 25 minutes later they arrived, an average ploughmans at that.
The village is worth a visit but not this pub.
