We have just returned from 2 nights at Wingrove House where we were given room 2, a very large bedroom with superking bed and views over the back garden.
We took dinner in the hotel on the first night which was excellent 3 courses with a good choice from the fixed price menu.
Nick the owner was ably and assisted by Ian offering friendly advice and suggestions of local sights and and places to see.
This is a lovely intimate hotel with real character and exceptional service.

Perfectly situated at the far end of Alfriston high street and across the green from the beautiful 14th century church . Quiet, smart and cosy with beautiful rooms . Stayed for one night in room 7 up three flights of stairs . Very nice room with ensuite with luxurious bath and a shower . The dinner was amazing - the last time we ate here I said it was the best beef steak that I had ever had. This visit I had lamb steak and it was incredible . In fact every course was utterly delicious.
The breakfast was one of the best I've had in years, the attention to detail truly pays off . Please do not hesitate to dine or stay at Wingrove House .

My long overdue review of this terrific property... My wife and I stayed there for 2 nights back in October as we've enjoyed exploring areas of England that we haven't visited before. What a find!

The owner-host Nick is a great innkeeper, who's happy to offer as little or as much advice as guests desire about things to do in the town of Alfriston as well as in the surrounding areas.

Our room was spacious and nicely appointed with modern touches. Note my headline... be sure to reserve a table at dinner! The chef is seriously talented and offers a delicious seasonal farm-to-table menu.

Room Tip: Can't recall the room number but ours was just up the stairs and then a hard right.

My partner and I stayed here for 1 night in December as a 50th birthday treat. From the moment we arrived we were so impressed by everyone and everything that we just cannot wait to re visit. The ambience is relaxed and very friendly. We had dinner and breakfast the following morning and it was all fabulous. The room (we stayed in room 7) was equally fabulous, quiet, very spacious and immaculately clean. The complimentary toiletries were even so nice I sourced the shower gel to use at home.
We had a truly magical stay and recommended The Wingrove to friends who booked to stay just before New Year and they too loved it.
There was absolutely nothing you could fault...amazing!

We stayed here on Saturday 21st November for the first time. Upon arrival we were upgraded to room no1 which was absolutely fantastic. It was lovely and clean and decorated and furnished to a high standard. It was also very warm throughout a very cold night. We ate in the restaurant that evening and the menu was perfect for both meat and fish lovers, and had a relaxed atmosphere but with great service. We had a perfect nights sleep in the comfy spacious bed and in the morning we had a really nice hot breakfast. The only disappointment we had was when we arrived home and looked at the bill we discovered that service charge had not been included (I didn't have my glasses on at the time!) which it always has been at other restaurants with rooms that we have previously visited. We won't make that mistake next time we visit as the service requires reward!
Wingrove House will be recommended to all our friends as it is the perfect place to stay for a relaxing and enjoyable weekend and is based in a lovely village. Can't wait to return. Many thanks for a lovely stay.
