me and my husband booked my hotel in brighton for a special night away for our 1st wedding anniversary, we paid a hefty 185 for our " executive" room, i could of got more for my money else where for a fraction of the price.

we arrived at reception which was smooth and organised, we went to our room and i was shocked at how un executive it was, i even called reception to check we had the right room to which she replied we had, a nice touch from my hotel was a little note left on the bed wishing us a happy anniversary and giving us 2 free drinks at the bar.

it was explained to my at reception that there was a sound system that we could plug our ipod into which would play out the room, i plugged it all in ( already in a rush as we had a reservation for dinner) and it didnt work ?? i called reception, the took forever to send someone up. they offered to change our room but it was to late id unpacked and needed to be out the door within 10 minutes, they informed my husband they would sort something out with giving us some money off when we checked out so i thought ohhh ok thats ok then.

next morning came, we had a rather dissapointing breakfast and checked out, we mentioned the promise of some money off our bill and was abrubtly told we had the opportunity to move rooms but turned it down ?? i was b#very disapointed by this as wed paid a lot of money to stay here for a mediocre experience, one which i wont be having at my hotel again.

despite all that the chilli pickle next doory is one to try, some nice interestong dishes, the bed was comfy, perfect location and the bar/bar staff were excellent.

deffo wont be staying here again, but would happily visit the bar.

Lovely hotel, staff very welcoming and friendly and gave good advice about where to eat and what to see. We had booked a standard room and chose a blue room on the third floor, the room was very clean and spacious and we found it very quiet with very little noise from other guests. We didn't book breakfast as we went to Bill's restaurant just up the road which was a great choice. The hotel is ideally located close to all Brighton's attractions. Everywhere is within easy walking distance and we parked the car in the hotel car park on arrival and didn't use it again until departure. There is a tesco express opposite the hotel if you need anything. Lots of restaurants and bars nearby.

Room Tip: Third floor rooms were very quiet, very little disruption from the noise of the bar on the ground floor.

This hotel is strictly for those with more money than sense or taste. Unfortunately it was one of only a few hotels with availability and without the typical '2 nights over the weekend booking' rule. The impression one gets from the website is boutique style, intimate, friendly. It's anything but. Centrally located in the lanes, it's vast, bright, gaudy, loud and very overblown. The bar at the back of reception is a sea of orange-faced 20 and 30 somethings. The gaudy foyer gives you just a taste of what's to come. Bright pink walls and clashing carpets, and the rooms, well, it felt like someone had blown a huge bubble gum, popped it and discarded the remains all over the walls, furniture and floor. It's all quite hideous. The furniture is cheap, plastic, a little tired, the locked window faced a wall, and regardless we kept the blind shut because the room next door had access to the balcony which afforded us no privacy. The room was standard sized with a comfortable, albeit small, bed, and an en-suite shower and toilet. Expect disturbed sleep as late night revellers pile into their rooms and stagger down the hallways at all hours. Breakfast is served in the cafe next door, and is light but adequate. The reception staff are very friendly but it all feels a little chaotic; I was upset and disappointed that the staff made no effort to acknowledge my partner's birthday and they even managed to forget sending up her flowers that I had pre-ordered and arranged to have delivered the next morning. It just added to the already impersonal feel of the hotel. My hotel doesn't seem to have a clear identity and for more or less the same money we could have stayed somewhere more cosy and intimate which would have made the occasion feel more special.
