“Quirky hotel with great staff”
Reviewed 26 December 2012 via mobile

Stayed here recently for a family celebration in Brighton. The hotel is quite quirky, which we all loved but if you have hang ups about the toilet door being glass and the shower in full view of the room, you may want to re think. The hotel is the perfect position for visiting Brighton and the staff could not have been more friendly, we would definitely stay here again.

Having read the other reviews and looked at the web site was looking forward to our 2 night break in our 'More Superior Room'. I can honestly say that there was nothing 'more superior' about this room! Small bed, glass door on the toilet in the bedroom, blinds that let the street lights in etc etc. it was like staying in French bus station! I asked what made our room more superior and was told that we had a window! May be I just don't get this place?

Stayed here for just one night but would definitely come back again. Staff were all lovely and dealt with our minor issue of tempermental room heating instantly and efficiently. Standard room lovely, all curvy walls. Reception asked which floor we would like to be on when checking in and suggested the top floor would be less noisy from the ground floor bar which is open until 2am. No bar noise on top floor and slept well. Plenty of pillows, nice duvet, comfy mattress, reading lights-all good! Also had in-room safe, iron and ironing board and mini-bar as well as complimentary tea and coffee and toiletries.
Would reccommend, and also go to Bill's for breakfast, was suggested on someone elses review of hotel and would heartily agree!

Room Tip: Top floor less noisy

I love the fact you can chose what colour your room will be by floor, nice touch. Staff are wonderful, merkaba bar is gorgeous, they had cute little gingerbread men freebies on the counter when I arrived. No snacks available though, but the surrounding area is full of places for food. The coffee shop inside the hotel does the most gorgeous coffee. Room was funky with some nice little touches like a 3.5mm jack so you can listen to your iPod in the room and free wifi. I would definitely stay here again.

Mid-December weekend stay complete with British weather - cold, wet, windy one day and dry, fine, with blue skies the other!!

Arriving in the rain the staff encouraged us to park temporarily out front, check in and put stuff in room, then go park in the nearby NCP. That suggestion saved dragging wheelie cases even a short distance - really helpful, which became the theme for the stay. We were asked if we needed a hand with the bags.

As we were uncertain about what time we'd arrive we didn't reserve for the busy restaurant, which looked great. However there are good eateries just around. Carluccio's opposite accepted us as walk-ins.

The decor is indeed unusual, but delightful - bright, colourful, clean and well maintained. The room was just as seen on the Website with a centrally located bed facing the floor to ceiling window overlooking the square outside. No problems with privacy - the drop down blind, complete with funky pattern did the job. Bed was comfy and had luxurious bedlinen. Being on second floor, facing the square, rather than the street, a good night's sleep was enjoyed (both nights)

Yes,the bathroom is very en-suite, being walk-in with a clear glass door for the ample shower room and a frosted one for the WC. Had a hole in the wall into room to watch the TV or chat to any companion. No problems for us,but could imagine possible embarrassments for certain pairings - couples who are not intimate or newly paired folk. But the facilities were efficient and very clean. Lovely thick towels and toweling bathrobes - oh, and slippers.

After the good night off down to the café-bar for breakfast. Neither Full English nor Continental - just myhotel's own take. The bacon butty was to die for! Meanwhile the room was serviced while we were downstairs - efficiency!

Aspects of the good, discreet service include the Duty Manager insisting he accompanied us to the room to ensure that the re-programmed card-key worked; taxi ordered for our evening out; recommendations for where to go and what to do; the pre-ordered goody delivered before arrival etc, etc!

Check out was quick and efficient - don't forget to ask for the discount ticket for the NCP car park (25%) - I did! But went back later in the day and was happily given it.

All-in-all a great hotel, fabulous staff, great location for seeing Brighton, which is a really interesting town.

Room Tip: Our second floor room, facing the adjacent pedestrian square was so quiet - no noise from street or...

Very well located this hotel is very unique. On arrival the staff was very nice and make you feel so welcome. We were offered 2 free drinks for our special occasion, how is this for customer service!
The room was very well designed and the crystal light display in the wall and sound system allows you to relax and play your own music. You feel at home immediately. The bed are very comfortable and the room was very well soundprooffed. No noise at all during the night from people in the corridors . The hotel was busy but we thought we were the only ones in!
The bar is really good too!Just can't wait to go back!Make sure you try it out, you'll want to live there!

We stayed at this hotel for a one night break with friends in December. The hotel rooms were modern and quirky with very comfortable beds, however we found a couple of the bar staff grumpy and not very friendly. The only thing I would say that let this hotel down was the price of the rooms, the noise from the street at night and the breakfast (lack off). The breakfast was served in the adjacent coffee shop which you could access through the hotel and was only serving a (small) continental style breakfast that did not suffice a hangover!

Room Tip: Take ear plugs if you stay at a weekend and have a street facing room!
