“Excellent hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 June 2014

I have just returned from a glorious weekend stay here with my Husband. Fabulous weather added to the overall experience. Our Superior double room was located on the third floor. A bright and spacious room in blues and greens. I think you need to be well acquainted with your room mate as bathroom privacy is not 100% but all clean and fully functional. We were located at the front of the building and noise levels from the street at night were particularly high, but this could well have been increased by the revelry brought about by the weather!
Staff were helpful and pleasant and the design of the hotel is modern and unique.
We paid extra for the underground parking which was excellent. The hotel has a superb location for all of Brighton's amenities. We loved the Markarbar for pre dinner cocktails and the Chilli Pickle Canteen right next door which I shall review separately. A wonderful stay, highly recommended.

Room Tip: Maybe ask for a rear room

The interior is original and colourful. The rooms are comfortable and the beds are good. The breakfast area is too metallic and impersonal, and the breakfast choice very limited. The exterior of the hotel is very sober and the entrance is hard to find in the dark. There is no clear sign and the entrance is not lit after 11 PM.

This hotel has the style of the 60's with today's functionality. The rooms are small and intimate and are good for a night or two, but would not recommend for a week. If you want something different then this is it.

Had one of my best stays at this hotel. The decor was to my liking, kind of hip, so suited me to the T. The location was excellent. The breakfast had a good selection of food, and as my wife is vegetarian, there were lots of items for her to choose from. Over all had a lovely time at this hotel.

£170 for what was essentially a Travelodge with curved walls. The 'funky' open-plan bathroom just means that if you take a leak in the middle of the night, you WILL wake your partner by lighting the whole room. The toiletries were cheap a nasty, the TV emitted a high pitch whine when on stand-by & there wasn’t even a bottle of water in the room. £30 to park overnight is also way more expensive than the local NCP.

The plus points: Good shower, nice looking cocktail bar downstairs and the reception staff were polite & helpful. Not enough to make me go back though.

Very funky hotel, decor best described as 'summer of love', all floaty oranges and purples. Staff are lovely, rooms are weird in a hippyish way but they grow on you. The lighting switches at are daft, you have to light half of the room to go to the bathroom in the middle if the night and breakfast is a disappointment. All in all, like my school report. Good but could do better if they sort out breakfast

This hotel really had the wow factor for us. We had a long weekend stay and we wanted to be near to the action. Everything was so convenient to walk to whether it was the theatre, shops or the beach. The hotel itself was really funky from the cocktail bar (memorable cocktails here) to the ultra modern decor, and being a retired couple this was all part of the Brighton experience we had hoped to find. We loved every minute of our stay and the staff were very friendly and efficient. Our room on the first floor was big, spotless and quiet. The croissants in the morning were super. We sampled the fantastic coffee shop and the amazing restaurant attached to the hotel. We will return.

Room Tip: Our room was at the back and was quiet which suited us.
