“Funky, stylish hotel in a prime location”
Reviewed 26 October 2009

This hotel is well situation in Brighton and we certainly felt like we were well located in 'the place to be' as there was loads going on in the surrounding streets (shops, bars, pubs and several street shows in the evening we were there).

I'd booked a Superior Double and on arrival we were upgraded to a More Superior Double at no charge. The room itself was vibrant, funky and well equiped with some nice finishing touches. Our room overlooked the square, which was full of people until late on the Saturday evening due to an exhibition on there (not a problem for us, but may be a consideration for others). The only negative really was a slight lack of privacy in respect of the bathroom, relative to the rest of the room.

I would certainly look to stay at this hotel again when visiting Brighton and would happily recommend it to friends.

Just returned from a weekend stay and we had a great time. I'll start with the plus points because there are a few very good ones. First, this is a really distinctive hotel, beautifully designed with a really original modern look and feel. If you want olde worlde tradition don't stop here. But if you are bored with run of the mill hotel rooms and can cope with modern then go for it and enjoy; its great fun.

The location is superb. Close to the pavilion and the lanes, you can walk anwhere in central Brighton and to the seafront. Lots of great restaruants and bars nearby (don't miss Bill's just around the corner). Don't bother with the car unless you really need it and, if you do, the valet parking works very well.

The cocktail bar is superb. Great design as you would expect and a really professional bar crew.

Now for the gripes: A minor one would be occasional lack of polish behind the front desk. Sitting in a hotel lobby you don't usually expect to be in earshot of staff openly gossiping about guests. Hopefully just an exception.

The second problem will be more serious for some people. The bars in the hotel are very good and very popular and the music is loud. On a saturday night our room on the second floor was noisy until 1.45am

The hotel response to complaints is honest as they are aware that this is an issue 'on Friday and Saturday nights'. However, they had no room for manouvre with alternative rooms given that the hotel was full. So my suggestion if you are planning a weekend stay is either to make sure you request a quiet room (although remember that the second floor is certainly not immune) or instead make sure that you are happy to stay up and join the party. I'll be going back though.

Me and my partner have stayed in this hotel twice now and we love it!
The first time was summer 2008 for a couple of nights. We found the room spotless, the bed exremely comfy, the staff very helpful and friendly and the location fantastic for shopping and eating out.
The room came with a lovley (if a little pricey) minibar and a beautifully designed bathroom (perhaps the open plan layout would not be suitable for people who are not entirely comfortable with each other!).

The bar is great and serves some amazing cocktails, my personal favourite is the Scillian Smash YUM!
The Zilli Restaurant was great the first time we visited however we found that the second time the menu had changed and we did not enjoy the food quite as much although the waiting staff were very helpful and friendly.

Basically this hotel is amazing! Great rooms, fantastic bar, brilliant location! A little expensive if your planning to stay longer than a couple of days but well worth it for the occasional treat or special occasion!
Will hopefully be returning in the summer!

We stayed in myhotel last Saturday night. The hotel in quite new and in a fantastic location. When we arrived at 1:15 the room was not ready (which was fine as we were early) but when we came back at 3:30 it still was not ready for another 15mins. The rooms are large and very strange. A very comfy bed and clean. No free parking at this hotel. It cost 25pounds a night. You can park for 15 around the corner. We would stay again.

I have some regrets with writing this review as I want to keep MyHotel Brighton as a "best kept secret", but that seems unfair to everyone else looking for a great base in Brighton! Im always amazed at the variety of dated/unclean/overpriced hotels & guesthouses in Brighton, and sick of having to trawl through website after website searching for somewhere decent to stay for a short get away. Hopefully that is now all behind us after staying at MyHotel. The rooms are individually styled, so if your looking for timber veneer cupboards, locks on the bathroom and plastic shower curtains, then stick with the PTInn. The style of this hotel flows from the front door, through the bar, and right into the room. The Superior Double room was well equipped with audio/visual, a fantastic bed, and other personal amenities. The location doesnt give you anything close to a foreshore view, but is right on top of the Lanes and numerous bars/restaurants are within short walking distance (just the thing if its a wet & windy Brighton weekend!). It turns out with MyHotel that "Brighton", "modern" and "value for money" dont have to be exclusive terms!

Booked this hotel as a treat for my partners birthday, what a disaster!. We were looking for a relaxing chilled out weekend on our first trip to Brighton.
When we entered the room it looked liked Changing Rooms meets Student Digz,,tacky.
If an open plan bathroom and bedroom is your cup of tea, great. Every time someone needs the loo the bathroom the light shines through the hole between the bathroom illuminating the bedroom area. Absolutely no privacy at all in the toilet as the door is just a etched glass door with no lock and there is no door to the bathroom whatsoever.
Beware allergy sufferers a feather duvet left my partner feeling awful as he has mild asthma. Blinds on windows let in daylight at the crack of dawn (not ideal for a relaxing weekend). An in house DJ at weekends keeps going until 2AM. We were told that unfortunately this is because of Brighton Live and maybe Brighton wasn't ideal for a romantic weekend, even though I had booked a Romantic Weekend Package at £195 a night.?? We left early feeling totally shattered after 4 hours sleep,(Can't wait to go back to work)
If a proper designer had been involved in this project the first thing they would have realised is the amount of space wasted to create an 'effect'.
We'd go back to Brighton another time under better circumstances.
Save your money find somewhere else!

At £250 a night for a "more superior" (for which read perfectly average sized cats-can-be-swung) double, this place is the Emperor's New Hotel. Everything it does well - plenteous hot water, comfy bed, pleasant and helpful staff, copious fluffy towels - should be taken as read from a good hotel and, indeed, is provided by the average Travelodge at a third of the price. But a very considerable premium is charged - and for what? - for 'groovy' decor which includes no comfy chair (instead you sit in an uncomfortable window seat on display like an Amsterdam lady of the night), a window roller blind such that your choices are (a) exposing your nudity to the square below or (b) having no natural light in your room; round beds, square baths and a leaky central-in-the-room shower (these three in a colleague's upgraded room) and (another upgraded colleague) a pointless merry-go-round horse in the room. This must be what the premium goes on as it's not a hot breakfast (charged extra! at £250 an night!!) or the promised "shoe shine" which no-one at Reception initally knew anything about but which turned out to be a very nice man delivering a duster to my room.

If this hotel had a digestive tract it would be so far up it as to be invisible; it is a gigantic con-trick played on "style" victims and Wallpaper* readers. If you are a rich one of these I recommend it highly, otherwise the Travelodge will give you everything myhotel will and leave you with plenty of spending money to really enjoy yourself.
