Stayed recently - we had a top floor room. The room was clean, the hosts delightful though my companion was mightily disturbed by the dog in the kitchen, I can't say it bothered me (as a pet owner).

I didn't sleep well, but that was likely because I had to move from top to the bottom of the bed because the window (single glazed) was very, very draughty even with the blind shut. I knew I would have been bothered by it so settled settled upsidedown! We also had to turn the mini fridge off because of the hum.

Nice selection of tea and coffee and how lovely to have fresh milk instead of the plastic pots. 5 star for that touch alone.

The 'bathroom' again nice and clean - but not for larger people; tis very pokey.

Good location. Great hosts. Nice tea.

Thank you for your review, we always take peoples views on board to improve wherever possible.
However, I just wanted to make it clear to any others reading this review that our dog is never onsite during breakfast and most certainly not allowed to roam around the kitchen whilst we are serving food.
With regards to the window - unfortunately being a litsted building we are unable to do anything about the single glazing nor the windy coastal weather!
Im glad that otherwise you enjoyed your stay and we look forward to looking after you again sometime in the future in one of our largher rooms perhaps.

Recently stayed for 2 nights at Motel Schmotel. The B&B is in a great location and perfect for a weekend away. Our room was at the front of the property so a little loud on Saturday night (perhaps a few more beers and I wouldnt have noticed!) All B&Bs in the area would be the same though. Our room was clean and the bed was very very comfortable. We loved all the added extras like water in the fridge, chocolate biscuits & the sweet jars. The breakfast was fantastic (fab toast!), with options for all dietary needs (including vegan) and it was so lovely to choose to eat in your room or in the breakfast room. Amsy and the staff we met were really friendly and we certainly felt welcome. Parking in the Russell Square Car Park was £25 for 2 nights. We would happily return again but perhaps might ask for a room towards the rear of the property. Thanks for a lovely stay and we would highly recommend staying here (0:

If you are looking for a little B and B in central Brighton, then look no further. Motel Schmotel is the best-kept secret of Russell Square. The entire luxury essential for a fantastic stay in Brighton are offered here and the family welcome is sure to make you feel at ease. This B&B are well known for their award-winning breakfasts. You choose what you want to eat and what time you want it eat it the night before on a tick list hanging on the door. You can also arrange to have it in the breakfast room or in bed. The menu is endless as well, you can choose from a full English, to fruit and cereal, yoghurts, porridge, kippers, anything you would want from a breakfast. I personally recommend the boiled eggs with marmite soldiers, particularly because they draw smiley faces on the eggs, a perfect homely touch for your morning breakfast.

I ordered mine for 8:30am on my first night staying here and bang on time there was a knock at the door and I comfortably had my delicious breakfast in bed. The breakfast room is really pretty and homely though with a real seaside chill out touch.

In the heart of Brighton, Motel Schmotel is located in the middle of Russell Square. This bed and breakfast is in an optimum location for all the best attractions including shopping, historical sites and the beach just a three minute walk away. All the surrounding streets are lined with pubs, restaurants and creative boutiques to keep your to do list growing day by day.

The hotel is a family owned hotel and we were greeted on arrival by the owners who were extremely helpful. The room I stayed in here had the comfiest bed with crisp white sheets and squidgy pillows. Definitely no complaints here. The rooms are very cosy, with a TV on the wall, en suite, shampoo and shower products and all the tea and coffee facilities you would need.

Nothing was too much for the staff at this place and they make you feel ever so welcome. On my second morning when I decided to go for the cereal and yoghurt, I asked what flavour the yoghurt was and then was proceeded to be asked what sort of yoghurt I would like as they were "just popping to the shops." Really first class service and makes a lovely change, in two meanings of the word, from staying in the hotel chains on the Brighton seafront.

Well worth the visit.

Motel Schmotel is a combination of comfort, service, a sense of home, and most importantly love. From the little details in the rooms' decoration and the AMAZING breakfast to the bottle of fresh milk in the fridge and the wonderful little chats with the owners, this makes holidays even better than one would could wish for! It's very central yet on a very quielt street, the rooms are britishly small yet totally cozy. The Motel-Schmotel-crew is very involved and there for you whenever you have a question or wonder where to go for the best ice-cream or fish and chips in town. It was perfect!

Hotel Schmotel is fab - really quirky and Paul and Amsy are both very lovely hosts - we were made very very welcome and nothing was too much trouble.
Our breakfast was fab, in fact quite the best fruit salad (to start!!!) I've ever had and so nicely served.
We will definitely stay again - a little gem!!

Room Tip: We had the ground floor room and it was lovely, just the bathroom was a bit small.

We stayed overnight and was very pleased with the hotel. We were warmly welcomed and made us feel at home immediately. The room was excellent(room 1) with very comfortable bed.We filled in our breakfast preferences that night and asked for 9-30 breakfast. However,we thought it was a bit late and put a note under the office door asking if we could change to 9am.In the morning our breakfast was ready for 9am,excellent service in my opinion. We shall definately stay there again. It is in a great location and very handy for the beach, the lanes,Brighton Pavilion etc.
