“Great little B&B with a great breakfast”
Reviewed 25 November 2013

Great location, 2 mins from the Brighton Centre & the sea front. Friendly staff, and a yummy breakfast. The window let is quite a bit of noise but it was mid week so there wasn't a lot of it, still had a good nights sleep. Lovely place, would stay here again.

Accommodation was very small, but what I expected from the web site. Price and location were excellent. Fantastic breakfast with vegetarian options. The staff was very friendly. This only issue was the bathroom. The toilet did not flush. We had to fill the tank, which is high up on the wall, with water each time we wanted to use it. Bathroom was extremely tiny and shower water temperature was very hot. We were unable to figure out how to turn it down.

Lovely stay in Brighton.

The location is fantastic (2 mins to the beach, 5 to The Lanes), the food was amazing - we had breakfast in bed and a full English breakfast, and the price was very reasonable.

The service was great, the host was extremely friendly and helful at finding the best places to eat/drink and the room was really warm and cosy.

For a nice, local experience of Brighton I can't recommend this place enough. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Our second stay here, still as boutique and quirky as ever.

Staff all friendly and welcoming. Good price for location, everything within small walking distance. Have to admit though, a little TLC is needed in room 10. Window needs replacing as it let in a draught, welcome book needs changing, quick lick of paint and a dust over the lamps mirrors and tv is needed - little things but makes all the difference.

Nice touch that there's extra water and milk in the kitchen room you can help yourself too.

Breakfast scrumptious as before, all in all a pleasant stay, wouldn't go anywhere else when visiting Brighton.

Brighton not the cheapest place to stay and the room we had was on the small side but typical of Brighton. However the room was thoughfully furnished and clean. Breakfast excellent and the friendliest most helpful host you could hope for.Location convenient for town centre. Overall a really pleasant experience to stay there.

Well I've done a good few reviews now and always take the odd negative ones amongst a host of good reviews with a big pinch of salt. Unfortunately its me that's writing a negative review this time, I can only write as I find personally, so make of it what you will. When we arrived in Russell Square it wasnt the most well kept square in Brighton and the plastic flowers in the window boxes of Schmotel didnt help. We were greeted by two young girls who looked a little confused and gave us keys to room 4, when I explained this wasn't the room we had booked they informed us we couldn't have the room we booked as the boss had slept in it last night and it wasn't ready. We had booked one of the parking spaces at the back of the hotel and asked if we could walk through the property with our bags to save walking along way around the square. The girls seemed a little

embarrassed saying it was a bit of a mess out the back, so we walked around. Stairs and hallway in need of a good clean. Room was described as biggest, but still very compact, balcony which was sold as an extra feature was very small with a rusty table & chairs and not looking safe enough to venture out on. Please also note there's no double glazing so every noise from the square heard in our room throughout the night, one of the reasons we booked our original room.
There was actually nowhere to store clothes apart from a hanging rail (no drawers or any space to put them). What I would say to the owners would be concentrate on the basics ... plug in sink, broken plug socket that came out of wall, cracked table, bathroom light not working, tatty blind at window, before you add those extra touches of flowers, sweets on pillow, chocolate biscuit. The mini fridge is a great idea, until you try sleeping right next to it and realise its so noisy it has to be unpkugged. All in all you have a great website that does its job and entices you in, unfortunately reality does all the damage. The price is far too high for quality of accommodation on offer even for Brighton.

Room Tip: Be prepared for small even if its advertised as a large room

Decided to stay in this B&B after reading some reviews on my trip to Brighton. I paid about the same you would for a standard hotel room (£75) and it's definitely something I'd do again.

The staff were very helpful on arrival and giving me some directions around the area. The hostel is in a nice location less than 10 minutes walk from Brighton Lanes and a minute or two from the seafront.

The rooms have mini fridges in with some fresh milk and water, you're also given a generous supply of tea, coffee, sugar and even a couple of penguin biscuits and rock sweets.

They have 2 parking spaces for a tenner each per day and were even kind enough to let me leave me car there a few extra hours as nobody had booked it that day.

In all, a better experience than I would expect from a Travelodge or similar chain.

Room Tip: I stayed in Room 10, which has a bath in the room. The toilet is in a separate room outside, down th...
