This posh sea-view B&B, with boho pretensions, does what it does exceptionally well.
The occasional downside tends to be the flip of one of the upsides. For example, the premises were originally a couple of Regency houses so there’s plenty of character, but the floorboards squeak a bit. Perhaps most importantly, the location is handily central… but can be very noisy by night, what with the car doors slamming, Italian neighbours strumming their guitars, drunks having arguments, and so on. (All those things that make Brighton what it is.)
Considering the 'character' nature of the property, I – unlike one recent reviewer – found the level of cleanliness actually pretty good. This would be consistent with my observation that the staff seem to work very hard to keep the customers happy.
Breakfasts (free only to those who book direct!) are surprisingly good. My only real criticism of the establishment is that a small kitchen (I assume) sometimes slows breakfast service to a crawl, with the staff continually apologising for the slow service: this is the only aspect of the operation I really feel they should actively try to do something to improve.More
