I have reviewed this hotel before. This time I had to pay considerably more for a room, and so this review will be assessed against the price now paid. Yet again (the third time) all of the check-in machines were out of order. For the price paid on this visit, it is becoming the norm at UK hotels to be provided with free Wifi. A welcome improvement is that this is now the case at this Travelodge, but what is not welcome is that the connection is cut after a few minutes, with a demand for payment to continue.
We tried to use the breakfast facilities, but instead of being able to choose items we were told to go to the front desk and buy two £7+ tokens for two "full English" breakfasts, with no other choices available. I do not know what Continental guests think of this. Instead, we walked a few yards to Wetherspoons, where we had breakfasts for less than £3 each, with unlimited refills of coffee and free WiFi for as long as we wanted to sit there.
The room lighting remains dismal, and the TV channels almost useless. With Freeview now universal, why not just plug it into the system?
The location is brilliant, and if you can get a room for under £30, Travelodge is a great choice. But with prices of well over £100 now often being thrown up when booking, standards need to improve.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view when checking in. The staff are very accommodating.

Do not expect a decent sta. If you get a good rate, still move on to Premier Inn, who have decent rates AND clean rooms you will pay over the top for parking, and feel grubby staying here. The hotel is clearly trading simply for stage and hen nightirty, naff and depressing. I stayed with my four year old and felt I owed him an apology.

Travelodge said they didn't have twin rooms at Brighton! Surprised/relieved to find a comfortable, clean twin room. Brighton very noisy - 'til 3 a.m! Pleasant service and good breakfast. Helpful staff

Room Tip: Only one chair in twin room. Overnight noise spoiled sleep. Very comfortable and clean beds

My wife and I stayed at this hotel over the Easter break. The hotel is well-located and is walking distance to the main attractions (Brighton Pier, Royal Pavilion, The Lanes). This for me was the highlight of the hotel.

My wife had breakfast in the morning which she enjoyed.

Another positive was that the reception staff were very helpful.

However, there are more negatives then there are positives:

The hotel is in desperate need of refurbishment. Our room, on the 5th floor, was very unattractive. Although the bed was comfortable, the bathroom was not very appealing and looked as if it hadn't been cleaned. Also the radiator in the room was filthy. I think the hotel should seriously invest in the rooms.

Another drawback is that we asked for a room with a view of the sea. However, we could only see a bit of the beautiful coastline as this was hidden by the roof of the building next door! So not much of a view!

Another issue that I was unhappy about was the car park. It states that the car park is behind the hotel but in fact it is a bit of a walk away (and quite pricey too).

This hotel can be so much more but it clearly is lacking some TLC.

Stayed here at beginning of April.
The hotel is conveniently situated. Arrived by train and it was a short distance downhill to the hotel.
On arrival the reception desk staff were welcoming and helpful. Stayed on the 8th floor, could see the sea and was not disturbed by any noise from outside.
However, was disappointed with the room, both in size and cleanliness. The shower curtain looked as if it was due to be replaced at any time! It was far from clean. One of my biggest concerns was the kettle which looked very grubby indeed. The room was serviced of a fashion. What we realised was that if we pulled the duvet back over the bed before leaving it seemed as if it was then assumed the bed was made so that's how it stayed!
This was our first visit to Brighton, which we liked very much, but if we return we shall choose a different hotel!

Room Tip: Higher floors are probably quieter.

Stayed here Bank Holiday Monday so the hotel didn't appear to be very busy at all.The location of the hotel is great as its close to all the amenities but the outside of the hotel looked extremely run down. The room was very small and did lack personal touches like biscuits with the hot drinks & no bath mat or anywhere to hang clothes in the bathroom. There was also a very subtle odour next to the bed which smelled like animal urine, very unpleasant. OK for the midweek charge but wouldn't want to stay for any longer than 1 night. Have stayed at other Travelodge's but on the whole this one was quite disappointing.

Under the bed the carpet was full of fluff, hair grips and pieces of tissue! The window looked like it had been cleaned with a pint of stale cream! Travelodge is the "Industrial" of hotels that often try and compensate by boasting about their price but they are often quite expensive!

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the lifts and vending machines. Also, don't ask for a sea view. Despite...
