Having read very mixed reviews for this restaurant, we didn't have particularly high expectations as to what it would be like. As we were visiting on a Groupon, we didn't have too much to lose. As confirmed in a previous review, it was rather strange to have to ring a bell to gain entry, however, the response was prompt and we were met with a smile. The restaurant is quite small and quirky and had a quiet atmosphere. The walls were adorned with paintings of red and black dogs heads (Jack Russels?), some on human bodies, and these were an acquired taste. Our expectations had not yet increased but we were very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. Each of our courses were very tasty and there were other options on the menu that were equally tempting.
By the end of the meal we had been very pleasantly surprised. The service was polite but rather slow, considering there were no more than about 12 people dining, however, we put this down to the time taken to prepare the food, so it was worth the wait and nice not to be rushed. If it were not for the Groupon, this would not have been on our list of places to visit, but we're delighted to have had a very good meal somewhere a bit different.
