Description: Sabai show's tremendous consistency having won a certificate of excellence award for the last 4 years running. The Thai word Sabai translates simply as relaxed, the perfect description of this Brighton gastrobar where the urban cool of London on Sea is matched to the ethnic charm of the Land of Smiles. Bringing a taste of Phuket's beach bars and Bangkok's most upmarket restaurants to the UK, Sabai is all about chilling out, South East Asian style a fact which is patently clear from the silk floor cushions, cocktail menu and warm, smiling welcome. The deep red and dark wood, gold and green interior is as beautiful as Sabai's freshly cooked, authentic food, MSG free and made using local ingredients where possible and imported Thai herbs and spices where essential. Because everything is made to order, special requests are welcomed.

“Blissful food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 November 2012

We reserved a table for 7 on a sunday eve and did a reccy before it seemed empty and we nearly didn't go but are glad we did...the cocktails hit the spot ( chilli mojhitos) had mixed starter two curries and rice all perfect full of flavour and wonderful. Staff were very attentive friendly and coudn't do enough for us. Despite it being sunday it was half full but the atmosphere was great , helped by the contemporary and stylish decor. Clean loos lovely prawn crackers and only £45 for 2 a right bargain!

“Great lunchtime special”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 November 2012

A very nice authentic Thai restaurant and as we were on a budget, we all chose from the fixed price set menu. All very good, fresh and tasty. They made a mistake with one of the orders and made no quibbles about bringing the correct order and allowing us to eat the incorrect one too!

“Delicious, friendly and reasonably priced.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 November 2012

I am a big Thai food fan and can say that Sabai held its own in terms of my palette!

I visited with my partner, we hadn’t booked and arrived around 9pm and it was very busy, every seat taken in fact. We were asked if we would like to wait at the bar to which we agreed. We ordered some drinks and looked over the food menu; it all read deliciously! Someone came to take our food order whilst we were still at the bar which ordinarily I wouldn't like but it was surprisingly welcoming and comfortable at the bar so we ordered our starter – tempura prawns – which was amazing.

We ordered our main course and vy the time it arrived a table became available so we moved to eat our main course – prawns with broccoli and chicken with ginger and spring onions, both with rice – and again, it was delicious! I had an espresso to finish and we left after around 1hr15mins, both very full and happy.

The atmosphere was welcoming and the staff were very helpful.

The bill came to around £45.

Would visit again.

“Lovely evening out”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 November 2012 via mobile

I don't usually enjoy Thai food but it was a friend's birthday. I was delighted to find that not only was there an exciting choice of cocktails but I could enjoy a glass of Prosecco with my meal. As a vegetarian, I was delighted with the choice of either Quorn, tofu or vegetable dishes. My friends enjoyed their meals too and the birthday boy was delighted with with his pudding with its birthday candle. Thanks to the helpful, informative and friendly staff for a lovely evening.
