“Luxury by the sea!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 July 2013

I stayed here on a recent Sunday night in their new Chambre Unique Deluxe Sea View room.
These rooms are lovely, very spacious and newly decorated. French doors open onto a balcony which gives you great sea views. Shame there isn't any chairs on the balcony for you to sit on, I had to drag one of the heavy chairs out there!
There is a great coffee machine and excellent tea for you to make. Room also has Sky TV, hairdryer and iron/ironing board. There is a small fridge in the wardrobe with a couple of bottles of water in it but the heat from this makes the wardrobe and your clothes very warm. There were 2 bathrobes hanging in there which doesn't leave much room to hang your clothes. The bathroom is spacious with an excellent power shower.
Breakfast in the restaurant is very good, fantastic choice and very tasty. If you get a table near the windows or in the conservatory you get a great sea view.
We parked just down the road at Regency Square car park which cost £20.00 for 24 hours and less than a 5 minute walk away.
If you want a night of luxury then this is definitely the place to stay.

Room Tip: Sea view with a balcony.

De Vere claim 'opulent splendour, style and five star service' but don't be fooled - this isn't a five star hotel. What it is however is a very comfortable but very expensive grand old dame of a hotel where old style meets and sometimes clashes with modern needs.
The upkeep of this 150 years old hotel must be never-ending. It is a bit like going into a stately home and seeing worn carpets, cracked plaster and damp patches on the walls. But if you see beyond that - and it is easy to, the surrounding are classy and comfy as an old slipper. Staff are plentiful and attentive - everything you need is available.
Our room was magnificent - a deluxe king with balcony and sea view. Newly decorated, stylish, free wi-fi and all the space you could need. On the Saturday night the function room beneath us was noisy and if you opened the french doors onto the balcony the road was noisy too. There is no air con and the windows didn't open so the french doors were the only option if you need air. The quality of meals in the (mostly) seafood restaurant was mixed - some things were great, others were awful.

Room Tip: Get the best you can afford - sea views and balcony are a must

This place is just stunning. If you ever get the chance for a once in a lifetime treat. Push the boat out and book the main suite a the front with the balconies. Mega expensive. But unforgettable. The breakfast buffet is out of this world never seen anything like it. The swimming pool in the basement is unreal with marble steps and status. Also sunshowers. Staff the best.

The Grand has absolutely stunning views of brighton seafront, we had a 5th floor balcony and it was great. The room was very up to date, clean and tidy. Also, the room was very big and had bose sound system and huge flatscreen with sky. The bed was massive and made beautifully. We had mentioned staying for our wedding night and recieved complimentary moet strawberries and choclates - all delicious! I dont have anything bad to say about our stay apart from we could have done with a/c as you cant keep the windows open due to the noisy road. We were allowed pizza delivery to our room as well as breakfast which was really tasty. Staff were all great, really keen to help and friendly and check in was easy peasy.

Room Tip: try for a front room because the view is well worth paying extra for, you wont want to leave your ro...

I stayed here for one night on business for our company annual offsite and it was amazing. I had one of the new Chambre Unique rooms and it was just amazing! The view, the space, the light, the bed everything was amazing!

Service in the hotel was very good and they helped to ensure our event ran smoothly (even though there was another event of 250 ppl on the same day)

I cannot fault this hotel.

Our friends invited us on their weekend away to the Grand in July after finding a worthwhile deal online. Fortunately England was experiencing a heatwave so it made the trip that much nicer.
We were completely blown away by how Grand the Grand actually is - its amazingly beautiful. The decor is gorgeous and very in-keeping with the building.
We arrived earlier than check in but this wasn't a problem, they parked the car for us in their car park and stored our luggage. Service was very efficient and professional, as was the service at check in later in the day.
We had several cocktails during happy hour at the bar but unfortunately not just the champagne cocktails were excluded. I think there were only 4 in the deal.
Our hotel room was very spacious and clean. The bathroom had a huge shower head which was lovely. Only downside was that there was no air-con and during the heatwave it became very stuffy. The hotel staff did however provide fans.
We recommend booking the restaurant as even on a Sunday night it was very busy. Food was great and for a hotel we found it quite reasonable.
We will definitely return!

Room Tip: Not all sea view rooms have balconies so be sure to request one.

The stay was part of a company event and we were lucky to have an upgraded mini-suite. Check-in was easy and the decor in the entrance lobby is stunning. Room was quite large and bed very comfortable.

However the overwhelming issue is the lack of AC in the rooms. For a high end property like this I find it unacceptable to have no AC and to only be able to open a single window (about 20cm). Due to the temperature in the room it made for an uncomfortable nights sleep.

Breakfast buffet was good - nice selection of continental items including breads, pastries, fruits, cereals etc, along with hot items (bacon, sausage, eggs....) - a great english breakfast! Coffee was good too.

I'd certainly like to stay at the property again, but only if I could guarantee AC in the room.

Room Tip: Try and get a room with AC!
