“Much better now that the rooms have been renovated”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 November 2013

This has always been the best placed hotel in Brighton but now that the rooms have had a lick of paint, new tv's etc. it is much better. Still far from a five star room finish but when on offer, a great stay for business or pleasure. The hotel communal areas offer much character and the service is very good. My only slight bad pints are: buffet breakfast which when busy runs out of stuff quickly and is not always replenished as quickly as it should be. If you are planning a breakfast at 10ish on a Saturday, expect a wait for a table. The only other negative is how can the hotel car park cost £26 per day during the week, which is already rather expensive, for that only to increase to £30 at weekends! Mini bars in rooms would also be a nice tuch. Still, a great hotel option if you are coming to Brighton.

Room Tip: The bigger the better so well worth paying more f you can as the entry level double rooms are small!

I stopped here on business for one night. The rooms and hotel in general were very good and servkce as good as you would expect. I parked in a NCP car park at the rear of the hotel which was expensive ( as all parking appears to be in Brighton ) the highlight for me was the lobster burger in the hotel restaurant which was excellent ( see photo )

Love it here! - The service, the sea views, comfortable stylish bedroom with luxury linens, fabulous bathroom with bath & power shower & tea/coffee tray. Breakfast buffet is excellent. Great Spa facilities. Bar & dining with traditional afternoon tea. This legendary Hotel has it all.

Room Tip: Chambre unique

Last stayed at the grand 6 years ago and we stayed here for 1 night in a "chamber unique room". The service was very good especially from the door man who was very polite & friendly. The recent refurbishment was much needed and was done beautifully, our room was huge with a large balcony, lovely decor, the only small detail it missed was a mini fridge! Regrettably I did not pre book a reservation at the hotels GB1 restaurant which was full, it looked amazing ( especially the famous lobster burger!) it was very busy at the hotel which I was not expecting & we had a hard time finding a reservation at local restaurants that night as they were either full or only had very late reservations available but luckily my husband remembered one we had seen earlier in the day called Havanas which turned out to be a beautiful restaurant where I had one of the most fantastic meals I've had in a long time! Will make sure next time we stay at the Grand, that we use the spa as it looks lovely but we decided to shop ( again!) lovely stay at the grand, look forward to the next visit

Excellent hotel, the staff reception breakfast & bell boys are a credit to the management, the twin room 434 they supplied for my daughter & I was a pleasure, bright clean & lovely views.
A really high quality 4 star hotel.
I had previously booked into a 4 star hotel competitor and it was like chalk & cheese.
The only fault was the car parking cost I believe they could offer a more competitive price.

Room Tip: The sea view room I had was excellent

We have stayed many times here but as it was our 15 year wedding anniversary. They upgraded us to a king size deluxe sea view!
This room was stunning. They put in a bottle of wine on ice and a card too such a nice gesture. The view from the room was amazing and the room was so comfortable and spacious. Spotless clean. Sparkling taps. Super white bedding. Immaculate in every way. All the staff were fantastic and so professional. The Italian bar man was good fun too. We wouldn't ever stay anywhere else. The update of the restaurant is perfect. A massive champagne and oyster bar. Wish we stayed here for our meal as we booked Havanas in the lanes instead, although it looked great the service wasn't. This is the best breakfast buffet ever. So fresh and great ingredients and a lovely pot of tea or coffee not just a cup! Thank you to all the staff from start to finish. Loved every minute and couldn't recommend this hotel enough!

Staying with 4 year old at one end of the scale and 90 year olds at the other, this could have been a challenge for any hotel. But The Grand made it seem easy. From the booking process which made sure we got what we wanted (2 adjacent room, one big enough for five the other a twin, both with sea view) to the excellent checkin, the great service in the lounge and the same in the restaurant we were superbly looked after end to end. Only a single disappointment which was that the conservatory part of the lounge was booked out for private functions but apart from that a great stay and service that would now be standard I'll be looking for elsewhere. Would stay again.
