Stayed here for 3-day conference. Had amazing freshly renovated room with espresso maker, what more does a girl want. Very good breakfast, staff competent rather than amazingly welcoming, but this should not detract. Gym is tiny and very stuffy, so go for a run if you are into fitness like me. Close to all amenities, and you can walk down from train station, so very central. Bar is pricy, but plenty of good pubs nearby. The conference food etc was very good, and the staff, especially the technicians amazing in supporting our event - nothing was too much for them!

Room Tip: you need a sea view room to make the most of it - some don't even have windows?

Was staying at the grand during a conference. My room, although on the 4th floor, was like a basement room with an window that looked out on a window well. The window had a covering on it anyway -- I suppose they thought there was nothing to see, so not worth allowing access to the window. The room was dark and poorly lit. There were dim lamps quite far from the bed so reading in bed was impossible. Others raved about their room so if you do decide to stay here it is very critical to specify the room that you want. I would have been better off at the Travel Lodge down the road where at least one can see if it's day or night by looking out the window!

Room Tip: specify a sea view or at least a window with some sort of view

stayed with my partner and we were given an upgrade as a birthday request. Wonderful building with interesting articles on the bombing incident. Room was dated which was a shame really as it wasnt what we were expecting. The room did have magnificent views over the old pier and the sea.
The wait in the restaurant for dinner was far too long but the food was delicious. With the type of room we had we were allocated a table for breakfast and dinner in the conservatory on the front of the building. The breakfast was varied and delicious. I would only stay again if it was on an offer

First stay at The Grand. Arrived by car and the concierge were helpful in collecting the bags (one distinctly miserable doorman though). Check-in was prompt and politely executed. The hotel had a lovely sense of occasion in preparation for Christmas, with a large tree by the staircase and jazz pianist playing away. Our room for the first night was ok. We were allocated an accessible/disabled room, which whilst furnished to a high standard, was dimly lit with a view of a brick wall a couple of feet from the window. The very shallow bath, not completely clean accessible sink and extra rails somewhat detracted from a sense of luxury. However, feeling this, reception were receptive when I asked to change rooms for the second night and moved us to a fantastic Deluxe Sea View room. This would be well worth the upgrade and had a balcony with a stunning view of Brighton seafront. The buffet breakfast was of a good standard (make sure to get a table overlooking the promenade). Despite a couple of niggles, The Grand has become my new favourite hotel in Brighton (out of 3 I've stayed in). Just make sure to book a room with a sea view.

Room Tip: Book a room with a sea view, otherwise you may well end up with a brick wall view.

We were extremely impressed with our deluxe sea view room. The bed for our daughter was made up and ready and waiting upon arrival and although the hotel car park was full the bell captain took our bags and directed us to the NCP just around the corner. This was actually cheaper than the hotel parking and just as convenient, the bags were already in the room when we arrived.
The room was well appointed, warm and tastefully furnished. We dined at GB1,the hotel restaurant and were very impressed with the quality of the seafood. All the staff we encountered were polite and professional,my only slight gripe was that the buffet breakfast was a bit if a bun fight and the actual breakfast room to the side if GB1 felt a bit like a conference facility.
All in all we enjoyed our stay and will probably stay again when we are in the area.

Have previously stayed here before and was a bit dissapolnted this time, there was no problem with our dog who was extremely well behaved but the breakfast we found had gone down hill.we were shown to our table no question of were we would like to sit a waitress asked would we like tea/coffee and food etc was all self service, previous visit we had been asked were you would like to sit we had our own personal waitress and toast was placed on table not like this visit had to do it yourself, were we had sat my partner felt hemmed in and it was not possible to discuss anything as people sat right next to us felt uncomfortable again before had our own table and also have to mention the porter last time took our luggage up and said im your personal valet for your stay but this time nothing like this happened maybe because we had a dog !!! The room was good, clean but have to admit the towels were hard and bathrobes also hard which again was dissapointing for a hotel of this standard, upon leaving my partner always checks the room just in case we had left anything then to her surprise she pulled the curtains and lo and behold yes there was a pair of underpants (pringle) and dirty socks lying there on the floor obviously from previous occupants which we both found really disgusting also mirror had marks on it, we informed reception when checked out and she said had we removed them to our reply was no
She found it quite hilarious yes suppose it was after the horse has bolted she asked us if we wanted to see duty manager and we declined but she did make a note of this so if they are reading this please send me the outcome !!!
