“Fab hotel in a great location.”
Reviewed 15 February 2011

The Grand has a great location on the seafront. We stayed on a Sunday night in a Deluxe bedroom on the 6th floor. Very spacious with a large sitting area and doors opening on to a balcony. Decor is a little dated but isn't awful. The public areas are tasteful and the grand staircase is amazing. We ate dinner in the hotel restaurant and sat in the conservatory with views to the sea, though it was raining that night. The service was very friendly but painfully slow, however, the Restaurant manager did come over to apologise for this. The food was well worth the wait, great presentation and great taste. We had breakfast in our room the following morning so we could take in the amazing sea view. The hotel is old and quirky and we loved it.

My boyfriend booked a surprise valentines break which included a 3 course meal, bed and breakfast at the Grand. I have been to Brighton many times and have always wanted to stay in this majestic looking hotel.

We stayed in room 305, it was an internal room although we did have a window (albeit frosted......but thats not a complaint!). The furniture was modern & bed really comfy, my only issue would be that the bath was a little 1970's (but thats it).

The hotel is beautiful and really takes you back a few years in an elegant and classy way.....not in an 'its miles behind the times' way - if that makes sense! All staff provided excellent service, we made use of the car parking & the bar served some of the best mojitos I have tasted. The location was perfect for us 5 minute walk to the shops or the pier and right on the sea front.

Very helpful staff and comfy bed, but the bedroom and conference rooms were tired looking. Could do with a good lick of paint and modernising - the TV in the room was aincient and couldn't hold a picture. Internet access was free and as as long as you have a room with an internet wire it was reasonably quick.
Lovely winding staircase.
Lots of choice at breakfast and good service.
Lunch buffet ok -nothing to write home about.
Limited parking, they suggested the nearby NCP, but I wouldn't risk overnight parking in a public carpark, so had to get the train.
Big downside - small gym and no pool, not great when away on business.

We cannot wait to go back to this first class hotel. Service was excellent from the moment we pulled up to the door until we were taken back to our car at the end of our stay. Breakfast was the highlight for me, the best waffle and pastry I have ever tasted as well as a first class cooked breakfast and more to choose from (too much to list) If you couldn't find anything you liked at Breakfast then there must be something wrong with you! Our bed was wonderful, bathroom good (shower not very powerful though). The rooms are traditional rather than modern but that's the style of the hotel, you wouldn't get elegance at a modern hotel. Staff friendly and nothing was too much trouble.

From the momemt we arrived until the time that we left the quality of service was excellent. Admittedly the rooms are not at their sparkling best, however this is without doubt made up and exceeded by the service received. Nothing is too much trouble, the attitude is positive and helpful, the approach designed to resolve and ease concern.
The location is spot on. On the sea front, 5 minutes walk to the centre of a cosmopolitan, exciting city the Grand is perfectly located.
A breakfast of many courses, an ambience that exudes class it is pleasing to note that an emphasis on good customer service still exists at the Grand.
There is so much expectation on supposedly high class hotels to deliver the ultimate experience. However that 'experience' does require guests to balance their idealistic expectations with an understanding that minor issues are exactly that. Do not try to make a mountian out of a mole hill and enjoy what is a fabulous hotel and a wonderful city.

Very depressing room - frosted glass at the window so could not see anything outside at all. Horrible smell, carpet old and dirty, wallpaper and paint peeling everywhere, bathroom very tired. Asked to change room and were upgraded - at a charge - to a sea-view room. Yes, we could see the sea if we stood on the window ledge but the room overall was no better and smelled overpoweringly of damp. Very disappointing accommodation. Staff were helpful anf friendly. Breakfast good, lots of choice. Wouldn't stay there again.
