Don't do what we did, we thought we were on the Hotel Website and clicked on Contact us to complete by phone and found we had paid over £100 more than the advertised price for a 2 nght stay, with Central Reservations.com the £40 deposit was non refundable -- BIG MISTAKE. We could have stayed at The Thistle for the Same amount. I did quote them the Web Price but was told no, that price is not current,

The hotel itself was dirty the carpet in the room smelt of Wet Dog, could not see out of the Windows which were filthy, mind you all we wanted was a bed and shower as such the beds were comfortable and a nice size room, the bedding was clean but nothing else, the Hotel does not respond to complaints.

On the plus side the water was always hot and a good flow and the heated towel rail was a comfort in the morning. Brighton itself was wonderful, the Restaurants, Shops etc. and the locals were very friendly, the show Rock Around The Clock was a great value for money night out.

We tried the breakfast once, the butter although cold was rancid obviously through being put out and then back in the fridge and out again, not nice. The dining room was depressing and looked like the remains of a Chimps Tea Party, The second day we decided health was more important than money so had breakfast out.

If you book it right, you know you aren't going to get anymore than 1950's comfort but at least you get what you pay for!!!!

Picked a named group, I:E Brittania because we thought they would be on the ball!!. Well i think the room was a last resort room for the hotel if overbooked/ The carpet was 2" away from the wall fraying, the windows you could not see the lovely gardens out of it, so very, very dirty, a "twin room" had a double headboard behind 2 squashed up single beds?? The bathroom was a broom cupboard in earlier life im sure, It was freezing cold and we were told there are 2 heaters per floor and they were out!! End of!! all other rooms were booked, As for the parties at night on our floor told me this was a budget hotel, not the middle of the road one we thought it would be, emails between head office, myself and the manager happened, for a while, he offered me a paltry sum , not even sincere with it, then emails stopped, and ive been ignored since!! So dont bother with this hotel, it was our one and only holiday this year and it was ruined!!!

Ok, I made the mistake of booking this hotel before reading trip advisor reviews; never again! Checking in was fine, and no real issue ouside our room. Breakfast adequate. However our room on the 4th floor was not. The view was appalling, the pipes and grot of the inner works of the hotel. It was hot, and we couldn't open the window. The worse thing was the bathroom, an area you'd expect to look and feel clean; it didn't. The shower head was filthy with some sort of grime. The bath has some weird stains as did the toilet. Photos have been provided. Overall this hotel needs a refurbish, and don't expect much if you stay. You have been warned

Went for a quick break with teenagers - booked 3 rooms last minute - all were good for the money paid. Breakfast and Evening Meal brilliant for teenagers as help yourself (as much as you wanted). Fab position with views of pier. Be aware parking is difficult.

After reading the reviews of the hotel I expected a total disaster. On average, it was acceptable: the mail staff was very friendly and nice, however 2 girls on reception looked kind of indifferent to what they were doing. Our keys did not work 4 times in a row, so we had to go up and down four times before the maintenance guy was sent to the room and we could finally get in. We were given room 319 which is rather clean and cozy but very dark as the view you get is pipes and garbage in the back yard. The check out is 10 o'clock which is a little early. In general was ok, but will not come back.

This was probably one of the finest places to stay in Brighton in the 1920's and how they have managed to preserve the TV from that era is outstanding !!! (A cheap shot but i found it amusing).
This hotel could not be any closer to the Sea and is in front of Brighton Pier and is only a few minutes from the main shopping areas so as for location it is right up there with the best.
I'm afraid that is it's best point's.

We had a double room with a sea view on the 5th floor. The room was a good size with plenty of space and was clean and tidy.Unfortunatly everything in the room is a little dated which gives the room a bit of a drab feeling and does not make the Spa bath we found in our room very welcoming.

This is the problem with the whole hotel it is in need of a little love and attention.

It also needs better management at Breakfast time as this was a fairly awful place to be in the morning and i wish i had just gone out to one of the many nice Cafe's in the town.It is like a canteen from the seventies with wobbly tables. Why have the cold and hot foods lumped onto one small table so you have no idea if your standing in a queue for no reason because all you want is a bowl of cereal when everyone else is queing for a full English. The whole room needs sorting out to make breakfast a nicer experience.

We paid £100 for a Friday night in August for the room.Hotels on the seafront in Brighton are always going to command high prices at peak times and compared to others this was a reasonable price.I would imagine if this hotel has a refurb then the prices will go up to match the other hotels on the seafront.

Summary

Great location,Clean and tidy,Nice helpful Staff,Whole place needs a refurb and better organisation needed in the breakfast room.

I stayed in this hotel for two nights over pride. Us and another couple stayed there in two rooms at the cost of £740! Its very dated and the rooms are very shabby. The remote didnt work and only had 4 channels.... in fact pretty prehistoric. The room had damp patches in the bathroom and was shabby. The main room needed a good clean... the windows on the inside was pretty dirty. The room had pieces of wood to hold open the windows and you could not open the sash window more than 2 inches. The secondary glazing had been ripped off. The kettle was in good condition but I have never tasted such poor vile coffee.... the same rubbish quality stuff for breakfast. Breakfast was a free for all... poor quality food. It was a free for all and it was vile cheap and nasty ingredients and poor staff..... please avoid
