“Needing Some TLC”

I stayed here over the bank holiday weekend with my partner. As i work in hospitality i was trying not to be over critical, but it really does need a refurbishment. On arrival the staff were ok. They didnt WOW me and i wouldnt say that they were friendly, but were there to answer any queries. The room was a mile away and it took us forever to find it, and on the way to room, there was old worn out chairs on the landing, old curtains just laying on the floor, there was electrical cupboard doors open, which could be dangerous for children, and the hallway smelt far from fresh. The room was clean, and looked tidy until i opened the wardrobe and there was pillows and blankets just dumped in the bottom. The carpet was dirty and the curtains didnt match. The bed was very conmfortable, and we slept like babies.

Overall i was dissapointed. Alhough it was ok for a 1 night stay, I would not choose to stay here again, unless a major refurb was done.

However this was in the perfect location for everything that we needed and wanted to do on our short trip.

We wanted to see Les Ballet Trockadero de Monte Carlo and the nearest theater we could see them in was Brighton. They are a group of male dancers dressed as ballerinas and dancing female parts but oh so so much more, wonderful dancing comedy and an entrancing evening. We did not want to travel back to Kent so decided to stay overnight. We trawled the net and found the Royal Albion. They did a good deal and was friendly on arrival even though the hotel was a little worn and dated and it was in a great place for the theater we were visiting. The room was clean but cold as the heating was not quite up to the February evening being from a single electric radiator. The bathroom very small but adequate. The breakfast the next morning was a scrum. Very small plates with everyone competing as to how much they could pile up. Some sort of control from the staff would have been an advantage and perhaps less water in the scrambled eggs.

Room Tip: We were advised to stay at the front of the hotel as the noise in the back was loud from a local clu...

I love the location of this hotel. It's right on the seafront opposite the pier with the lanes and town centre within close reach. The hotel is ok, however I would love for it to be refurbished. It needs bringing up to date. The sheets are clean the bathroom is clean. The table in our room had scribble from kids on and the door was a bit dodgy - looked like it wasn't closed properly. However the breakfast is nice, lots to choose from.

Just stayed here for bank holiday. Got an amazing deal! Yes the hotel is old fashioned but it's very clean and in a great location. Staff are friendly and has a great view of the pier. Would def stay here again!

This hotel is in an ideal location for the lanes and the pier, but and it's a big but, it is very tired, built in the 1800's and it feels like it, rooms are tidy but tacky, bathrooms function but not anything special, decor is drab and tired and the windows are so dirty you are lucky to see anything, it is overpriced and underwhelming. Breakfast would be a saving grace if it was hot , but there is plenty of it. I loved Brighton but next time I will find somewhere else to stay, oh the staff seemed friendly but always looked like they had just been told off!!

I like to stay at Royal Albion Hotel because of its perfect location. But only when they have discounted prices. Its not worth paying the huge prices they have Saturday nights for example.

The room was clean, but the bathroom was smelling terrible. The floor is really bad as it makes noise inside the room and outside when people are passing, but there is a fix for that, ear plugs.

Breakfast was good.

I will probably stay at Royal Albion Hotel but not for full prices.

I would describe the albion as 'shabby chic'. Rooms are in definate need of updating, but are spacious and has everything you need for a weekend away. I'd suggest paying the small suppliment for a sea view room, and book early for the best deal. If we'd have paid full price we'd have felt disappointed, as it needs a good update. Generally though, the food is good and breakfast is great. At the busiest time the two of us went straight to a table. The bar is open late and is well stocked and the staff at reception really friendly. Its the second time we've stayed here and will probably book again for next year. Just to note, if you do have a sea view room be aware that there is a bar/club near and on Saturday night it can get a bit noisy. All in all, a nice clean place to stay near to all the amenities.
