stayed a night on a groupon voucher, hotel badly needs some investment! staff friendly and helpful, but the hotel has seen better days! room was tired (lots of pink) although relatively clean, and smelt musty and damp, food pretty dreary although perfectly edible. Ok if its a bargain i suppose, and the location is perfect, right by the seafront and pier. Shame Britannia are not wiling to invest, as it could be a great hotel with a bit of TLC, reminded me of a butlins holidaycamp in the 1980's. and as for the 10am checkout... hmm :-(

Room Tip: stay somewhere else, unless c.£60

The room was vile , shower was filthy - bed had hairs allover sheets and pillow . Also my Ralph Lauren glasses were stolen by the housekeepers . I would never recommend this place or ever go anywhere near it . It's a shame as the location is faultless . Even the air con electric cables were hanging over the door !!!

There is nowt royal about it but its good value for anybody wanting to stay right by the pier on a modest budget! Rooms were quiet and cosy enough but could really do with a little updating though...consider somewhere more expensive if your looking for a romantic night!

I stayed in this hotel at the end of March 2014.
Well what were the good things to say about this hotel? the only thing i can think of is its location! i dont think you will beat it.
The hotel itself as awfull, its like stepping back into the 1970's, that even includes the uniforms.
The general state of the hotel is awfull too, wallpaper peeling off the walls, damp causing the plaster to fall off all the way down the stairs, painting thats well overdue, all of the railings on the outside of the hotel causing rust to run down all of the exterior paintwork looking like a sh**stain.
The brekfast was alright, although busy as they seem to ship coachloads of people in to fill the place up, we had dinner that cost us £9.95 and it was rubbish, i dont think they could have been less imaginative if they had tried, it concisted of pretty much meat or fish + potatoes, do youself a favour and get a meal in the harvester next door.
During our stay obviously somone was sick in the lift, they cleared up the bulk but left the goo for the whole day, the list stank of sick and had a wet path in it all day, gross.
There was also a fire alarm one morning, i dont think any member of the staff had any clue, none of the m instructed anyone to do anything, but to be honest i think burning the place down and starting again would be the best thing to do anyway, its not like the rates are that cheap anyway!
Parking is also a problem, the cheapest carpark (10m walk away) cost is £25 a day!!!

Room Tip: Yeah, go somwhere else

Room was filthy and cold. Vomit stains on bathroom walls and door. Had to use all blankets in the room to try and keep warm. Rugby club party took over the hotel and the party goers were running around the corridors all night and tried to get in our room. Public areas a mess. Tired old hotel dirty soft furnishings. Nasty.

I was originally booked into the Jurys Inn but when I arrived the tour operator I had booked through had gone bust. As I was due to do the marathon I needed a hotel in a hurry so paid a ridiculous price to stay at the Royal Albion. It is well located but that is the only plus. Our room was in the basement without windows. At 10pm we discovered we were underneath a night club. The ceiling and bed were rocking, apparently until 2.30am - perfect if you are running a marathon the next morning!! To be fair, they moved us at 12.45 in the morning so we could get some sleep. The breakfast was £7 and was revolting - cold porridge (no honey) and cold toast. We moved to a 3rd room for the second night. The remote control didn't work in any of the 3 rooms. The shower was temperamental to say the least. The windows, when we had then, were filthy and the net curtains were screwed up. The rooms were basic and tired but reasonably clean. There was a stag party and a rugby club running riot - lots of drunk men lost in corridors. The staff were neither friendly nor rude, just sort of disinterested. I feel ripped off! The whole place needs a complete and utter refurbishment outside and inside and sound proofing too. I don't recommend anyone stays here ever - unless you are stranded and about to run a marathon like I was!

Room Tip: Avoid the basement and rooms over the entrance as in the basement you are under a nightclub and over...

In one word yes. Do not attempt to come here, it reminds me of the Overlook Hotel from the Shining. It is the 21st century right? Apart from the Italian school students and the odd couple, this place should be condemned. The food, rooms are so poor!
