“Overpriced and awful.”
Reviewed 13 July 2009

Arrived later than planned so just went for the first hotel - it was £110 for one night, which I wouldn't mind paying if the rooms were at least CLEAN! Mould on the doors, windows that wouldn't shut properly, a dirty bathroom. Eurgh. Just terrible.

Don't stay here!

Stayed during heatwave at the end of June 09. The window in the room was screwed shut so we couldn't open it for a breeze, so we asked for a fan. Staff at least did provide one but it was a small deskfan, which had to be placed at the far end nr the only plug socket. So we had to push our beds to that end of the room to feel any benefit from the fan. The hottest room I've ever stayed in. On arrival, there were hairs in the bath & sink, & once, Housekeeping even came into the room & turned the bathroom light off while i was still in it! A hopeless place. Cooked buffet breakfast & polite reception staff its only saving grace.

Myself and six colleagues were booked into this hotel for a business trip. Upon arrival we we told that they did not have six rooms due to the renovation work currently taking place. The reception staff reluctantly agreed to move some of us to another hotel down the road. They then changed their minds, told us they did have rooms and then booked us in.

My incredibly small room was situated on the side with the renovation work. The window was broken with wood shavings and dust on the floor below it. Inexcusably the smoke alarm was hanging from the ceiling (which I hit every time I opened the door!) The view was onto scaffolding with tools and a workmate directly in front of the window. The bed was one of the most uncomfortable I've ever experienced being more like a z bed and the TV did not work. To round of the experience I was awoken at 8am by builders on the scaffolding singing, swearing and knocking the window. When I opened the curtain I discovered the window ledge being used to store tins of paint etc.

The service was appalling with no apology for the room situation and the staff in attendance at breakfast were rude and unhelpful.

Quite obviously the hotel had deemed this room (and several of my colleagues' rooms) unfit for purpose (I suspect my room was actually a broom cupboard shortly before I arrived). However the thought of paying for us all to stay in another hotel was too much for them. A poor excuse for a hotel!

this truly was the worst hotel i have ever stayed in. my room had a magnificent view of a load of airconditioning units and other room windows. and since my sircon unit didnt work, i coulnt sleep with the window closed due to the heat, and with it open because of the noise. the room was dirty and never hoovered while i was there. the food menu was limited and to top it all off they had a 6th form prom in the reception room on the last night so the bar was unusable.. i wouldnt wish this place on anybody

Great location right by the Brighton pier however reception not helpful and a little abrupt. Rooms very small and no curtains on top windows. The executive room you would think to be much better.

Having read some of the reviews I was a bit apprehensive when I booked accommodation (our usual hotel was fully booked). However, we got a good weekend deal and I kinew the location was good. The hotel is undergoing renovation and, from the website, I knew there would be scaffolding.
Plus factors were: a) the size of the room for our 3 night stay. A very large first floor corner room with 3 windows looking to the Marina and 2 overlooking the Brighton Pier b) the views c) the comfortable beds and d) a wonderful view towards the Marina whilst taking a shower!

Minus factors were: a) the French windows had been painted and the windows above them couldn't be closed properly. In the event the weather was very hot and that did not matter too much but it did let in some of the noise from late night revellers on the sea front - ** bring ear plugs especially as there may be a disco in the room under the bedroom - the sound doesn't come through but the bass beat does b) someone had been on to the sun terrace (via the French windows) and trodden soft bitumen on to the carpet - this does need to be cleaned up as it spoilt the look of the room and c) there was no power socket for the bedside lamp nearest to the window.

The buffet breakfasts were adequate but some fresh fruit would have been nice. Get down before 9.15am or be prepared to queue. The staff were friendly and efficient and, in particular, very patient with a mother and her young disabled son.

Staff were rude, room was terribly dirty, tv didn't work, double was 2 singles pushed together, noisy, blankets scratchy. Quite frankly one night was too much.
