“Great Location, Great Service - Even On a Stag”
Reviewed 29 April 2012

Stayed for a weekend in March for my stag. We got an amazing deal paying £70 each for 2 nights something unheard of in a hotel like this. An ideal location situated on the sea front the hotel seemed too fancy for a stag yet the staff were always in good spirits with us and looked after us all without question bringing us jugs of water every morning while laughing at our hungover states.

The rooms are huge, well furnished and very comfortable

I would no doubt come here again with friends or as a couple.

Great hotel!

Thank you very much for taking the time to write your feedback following your recent stay at Hilton Brighton Metropole.

The hotel as you say has a great location and with the facilities we provide and refurbishments we have made is a great base from which to explore the local area.

Once again, thank you for your feedback and I look forward to welcoming you back to the hotel in the near future.

Kind regards
Guy

Stayed for just one night for a conference. My main tip for staying here would be to upgrade to a seaview as we were at the back of the hotel with no view at all (unless you count the workmen who were climbing up the scaffolding directly outside the bedroom window)! As usual with Hilton, the staff are friendly and go out of their way to help you which makes you feel welcome.

The location is perfect for leisure or business as it is directly opposite the beach, a stone's throw away from Brighton Conference Centre and about 5 minutes walk to the pier. It's also very close to the shopping centres, pubs, restuarants etc.

Personally I don't think this is one of the better UK Hiltons I have stayed in, the room was absolutely fine but was quite small and dark and some of the public areas looked a little tired. There is free Wi Fi in public areas but if you want to access the internet in your room there is quite a hefty charge. There is an underground car park (charged at £16) and there were plenty of spaces when we were there.

Breakfast was very good, freshly cooked and wide choice available. Although the pool looked very inviting, I didn't use it as it was my first trip to Brighton and I opted to go "exploring" instead.

Room Tip: Definitely ask to upgrade to a room on the front of the hotel with a seaview

Have stayed here a few times, mainly for pleasure and although as mentioned by other reviewers it is a bit dated, it is, at least 'interesting'. Some Hilton hotels are so purpose built every single room has exactly the same layout, furnishings etc. Have had some lovely rooms here, massive beds, large clean bathrooms, loads of toiletries. My few criticisms are as follows - room service food is awful, sorry, but it is, cold, dried up and tastless, yet the food in the restaurant is good, weird......does it come from a different kitchen? Maybe the meals are ready prepared for room service and just re-heated? Pay movies are a bit hit and miss, not always available and the pricing structure is a bit confusing. Finally, the minibars are often just empty fridges or not there at all! Not good late at night when you just want a nightcap, open the door where the minibar is hiding and voila, nowt, nada, sometimes not even an empty fridge

Stayed for 5 nights from 21 April. Check in was ok and my single room was large and very comfortable. Large Bed, very clean bathroom and plenty of room to hang your clothes. Iron and ironing board, safe in room, mini bar and loads of toiletries.
My room was cleaned every day to a high standard and all members of staff were polite and helpfull.
Breakfast was plentifull with everything you could ask for. The Hotel pool included a steam room, sauna and jacuzzi.
Drinks in the bar were quite expensive but the location is right on the front with local bars close by.The view from my room was not so good.
I would definatly recommend the hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view.

Stayed for a conference. The room was clean and functional with everything you would need for your stay. They are currently updating the hotel as one of colleagues had a more tired (but clean) room and was dissapointed when they saw mine!

Would have loved a seaview room as it is a great location - so jealous of those who did have!! Breakfast was great and lots of choice and staff very friendly. No complaints from me.

Please do not waste your money booking this hotel. As a SPG member you are supposed to a valued customer. This is not the case in Brighton. Just a few facts about our experience:
1. We were told that as an SPG memember we could book in earlier 1pm. When we arrived they appologised and said that they were running late and we could book in at 3pm. Our room was not ready until 3.45pm. They appologised and moved us up one floor.
2. When we arrived at the room, we discovered that the french doors did not close and the wind was blowing through it and it would not lock.
3. We contacted main reception and they said that they we send up the maintance person. As we were only staying for one night we asked to change rooms. It was not 5pm and we hadstil not checked into our room. They then told us that the hotel was completely full and we would have to take the room.
4. I was not happy and telephone my credit card company. They told us to not acept the room and also told us that we would not be insured it anything went missing because the door did not lock.
5. I relayed the information to the duty hotel manager (Mr Cottrell). I explained the situation and he did not care at all. He said that you can take the room or not. This is absolutely unacceptable. He literatley through us out of the hotel. (luckily we managed to find another hotel)
6. This service is absolutely appauling. We have contacted the Hilton customer care team and have not received a reply. It has now been 4 months and still no response.
This was not a very good birthday surprise.

So beware. If you want good service and accomodation - DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL.

American Express are looking into the Hilton at Brighton (as they recommended the hotel) to see whether they should be still reconnending this particular hotel.

Room Tip: Avoid the rooms with the sea views the doorlocks are broken. You will not be insured.

My second time in Brighton... first I stayed at the Duvin a year ago but because they have like 10 rooms (exaggeration), I opted for the HH points at the metropole this time around. Basically it comes down to what you want at your stay... if you want a secluded, intimate, quiet stay then go with Duvin. But if you'd like to be around more people, a lot less intimate but more social then the metropole is your place. Rooms are great at either place. But I will say I believe it's a European thing or at least a UK thing, service is terrible. Cleaning service was the worst by far, never replenishing towels or bottled waters. Always left dirty glasses and towels too. So hotel is nice on the eyes, service more to be expected. None the less I would stay again.
