“Rude staff, dirty rooms and not good value!”
Reviewed 10 August 2014

When we checked in the woman was extremely rude and did not speak good English, she first tried telling us we didn't have a booking and then said I had to pay when I already had! Prior to checking in we had dropped off our bags to reception we then parked our car to come back and find they couldn't even find the bags!!!
After about 15 minutes a man had moved them and no apology was given.
We then went to the lift as we were on the 4th floor- the lift was awful and sounded like it was about to breakdown, when we got to our room it wasn't the biggest room I've seen. It was dark and tiny!! No room to even move.. When looking in the bathroom we found several hairs that were defiantly not ours! Breakfast was awful.. Sausage undercooked.. Beans cold and mugs had stains all in them. Overall a very poor quality hotel and very tired looking. Was NOT good value and I do not recommend staying at the kings hotel- I certainly will never be returning!!!!!!!!!

I arrived at the hotel but was to early as check was not until 3pm. They did look after my bags, but at £107 per night the room had no sea view and was very small but clean. The lift was not working properly and took an age to get to the 4th floor. The lift needs some maintance. The price seems very strong for a nice but average hotel. The scottish waiter at breakfast was very good.

Room Tip: You need to confirm that you get a sea view room as it pointless staying in at a beach hotel with a...

Low cost hotel.
Nothing untoward. Excellent breakfast and very helpful staff.
Great location, on promenade and only a stone's throw from Lion & Lobster for good food and beer. Would stay again, and ask for a room with sea view.

Very standard budget hotel. Room was spacious, clean and all facilities worked fine. Quite quiet. Very nice staff and helpful. I stayed at room 123 for two nights. Only major update needed was the room decor. Loaction was ideal and I would stay again without a doubt ☺ Tyler -Ashford, Kent.

We did book last minute, but this hotel is the most varied and pot luck as to what you receive. Staff were ok, the reception area is nice and the room was, to be fair, clean. However the room we had was tiny, and I mean tiny so for £169 it really didn't seem good value. You had to slide on and off the bed at the end as there was no space to walk round it, the window was very old (but thankfully opened) and the walk to the bed was a shoulder width corridor. I hope the owners read this to note that this does need a re-vamp!!

Room Tip: Sea view could mean a corner of the sea through a dirty window, ask for space instead!

i stayed here once for a conference i was at in Brighton. If your room is at the front then yeah you will have the best view ever, but if your at the back the only thing you will see is a brick wall, also it was a weekend when i was there and thee lift was out of order and my room was on the 4th floor so if i wanted to do anything i would need to be sorted otherwise id have to go up 4 flights of stairs. i asked if they could give something complimentary seeing as the lift wasn't working and they basically ignored me and wasn't interested in what i had to say. the hotel had wifi but it kept cutting out and when i called reception to check they just said that theres nothing wrong with it, i wouldn't stay here again only good thing about it was the price and location as the other hotels in the area were double the price

For the price we paid, the service and quality of the room was average. In my online reservation i requested a travel cot, and the receptionist blank faced told me i hadn't....i even had a printed out copy in my hand! With disgust she said she would bring one to our room.
We waited and she never came. We went out for a walk and on return there was still no travel cot. We had to ask another member of staff who went and got one for us, but wouldn't help put it up.
There was no lift to our particular floor and as they hadn't taken note of my cot request, stuck us on a floor that involved dragging my buggy down a flight of stairs, and wouldn't move us to a more accessible room
Breakfast was ok, The staff there were much more friendly with smiley faces.
The hotel is placed in a nice location between Brighton and Hove, opposite the old pier. If your rooms at the front of the hotel you would probably have a nice view, our view was of a block of flats.
The room was a good size with an en suit bathroom, tv, big wardrobe, had a mini grimy looking kettle with tea, coffee and 2 biscuits.
The corridors were very narrow, and the building could use redecorating.

There are much better, cheaper, friendly places to stay in brighton.
