Stayed at the Imperial for one night this week. Good location, close to the seafront but quieter than the Brighton end of the city. The room was spacious and bed ( four poster!)comfortable, clean with a good-sized bathroom and all the basics you would expect. Reception staff are polite and efficient. Parking is easy and free from 6pm to 9am (outside those times it's £1/hour) so may not be necessary to buy a permit. Can't comment on the breakfast as I went elsewhere- seemed a bit pricey though. All in all though a good, reasonable priced stay.

In thanking you for sharing your positive experience we are always mindful that there are many travel options when visiting the City so we truly appreciate your choosing the Imperial

The hotel strives to provide value for money and choice for our guests and, of course, we are investing heavily to improve the external aspects of this rather grand building

Hopefully we can see you again soon and renewed thanks meanwhile

Booked this room a very short notice. The room was a little dated and tired but half the price of the Princes Marine where we usually stay. It was ok for the one night and parking just outside was £5:00 for 12 hours. Its about a 20 minute walk to Brighton. Would I stay again ....... for one night definitely but no longer .....let's see what it's like after the renovation.

We appreciate this candid revue and are glad the Imperial was able to help in your hour of need

We understand that there are abundant choices of accommodation in the City so welcome your support and that of our other customers. This is very much in our thinking in terms of the important refurbishment program we are undertaking

We sincerely hope you will stay here again when you next visit from the West Midlands

The rooms are clean , relaxing and comfortable. Not over expensive and a really nice breakfast. The staff are friendly and helpful . Would always stay there in the future. I do recommend it!

Stayed here for two nights and as it has been said before lots of scaffolding. The staff are friendly and helpful and the food is average. But it seems as if a final Judgement will have to wait for the renovation work to be completed. It has Potential of being a nice hotel. But for this years summer holiday makers you will a bit disappointed

We appreciate this no nonsense review, more so as a regular Trip Advisor contributor. We would certainly agree with your sentiments that the Imperial will be a new girl once the works are finished with something of a spring in her step as a result

Happily, the works to the front elevation and progressing well and we should be able to start dropping the scaffolding very soon now

I needed the use of a lift as have problems with stairs and although there was a lift I still had to cope with several stairs to get to my room. There was no help from staff with my baggage either. I must admit I didn't ask for help. The room was clean and the bed comfortable, but the place was old and floor boards creaked. It was very close to the sea front and if you can cope with stairs would be okay for a short stay.

We appreciated your visiting from Australia and thank you for your balanced remarks. As a Victorian building, the Imperial has her special ways and inevitably the floors are not uniformly even and there are some small flights of stairs which we cannot accommodate with the lift. Even so I am truly disheartened to hear that you struggled with your bags as we would have been only too pleased to help

Once the current works conclude we will be looking at a very different hotel and hopefully at some point your travels will bring you back to our City. Meanwhile renewed thanks
