My single room was just that - almost a cell. I didn't mind the scaffolding, but would have appreciated reception telling me there would be men outside my window when I was changing out of sopping wet clothes (thunderstorm!) on arrival.
The accommodation was on the mean side - tiny tea provision, no soap or toiletries, very small towel, flat floppy pillow. I was happy to stay out with friends and only slept the one night of three. The hotel was airless and stifling at times, the lift incredibly slow.
However, they redeemed themselves somewhat on friendly efficient service at reception, decent quality bed and bathroom standards, and proper sausages at breakfast. The hotel is right near the seafront, and the next road back has all sorts of pubs, restaurants, independent shops etc.
Overall I am satisfied with my stay, although I will look at other options for my next visit to Brighton.More
