Decent triple bunk beds with curtains, lighting and plugs, and secure door access. Shared shower rooms were a bit strange (have to keep pressing a button every 10 seconds). Free breakfast. They restrict eating in rooms but is fine in their main foyer/lounge. Okay TV. Wash up after yourself. 10am leaving time. Windows were a bit hard to open. In a convenient location for access to the local bars and town, but very hard to find parking in the area around.

Spending one month in this hostel, we conclude that the atmosphere is very welcomed, the staff is nice and close to the guests. If we stay a long while, relationships can be created (we prefer the week than the week end). Nevertheless according to the rooms, there is not enough places for the luggages especially in rooms without shelves and it is often warm. The location is good, not far from the center.
Thanks all the staff and Tobby's great dj !

selfish staff and selfish guests....doors banging, suitcase zips zipping all night...the place needs a good scrub...
stay there if your desperate...and saying that its not cheap either...i know there are rules and norms out there for stating in hostels..curfews, knowledgable staff, communal feels...i get it....this place doesn't have any hostel etiquette...

We stayed over the weekend for a stag party. checked into a 6 man dorm to be told we had to pay a £250 deposit incase of damage to the room. looking at the room i dont think you could do £250 worth of damage. room was small, beds uncomfortable, and we're very hot, even though it was raining all weekend. the emergency exit sign stayed alight all night and was actually brighter than the main ceiling light. we were on the top floor and there was only one shower, probably for about 30 odd people. shower was hot but full of mould and it was a case of getting in and out as quickly as possible. only plus point for this place is that the guy who runs it looks like dev alahan.

Room Tip: a room in another hotel.

if u are visiting Brighton with friends for less than a week, this comes out to be a good option. the place is often full so the reservations have to made a week or so before. the pluses with the place can be easy access, it is centrally located..the pier is at a walkable distance and the market is located nearby..they serve decent breakfast..having discussed the positives it is also relevant to mention things that go against this place...we stayed in a dorm with bunk beds which were quite small and uncomfortable, particularly annoying were its iron ladders which were difficult to climb..the shared bath was poorly maintained and its better that u shud be the first one to use it...i didn't face any problem with the staff but they looked quite indifferent....so overall not a place to expect too much from but an affordable option for a visit for 2-3 days...

Only stayed here for 3 days, very warm welcoming from the staff. Hostel was in a fantastic location with a good bar + outside seating (perfect for good weather) Staff were knowledgeable of the area and recommended some good places to go out.. Breakfast was ok, enough to cure my hangover for sure! wasn't too keen on the 3 bunk bed idea.. but once you're in, not a problem.. clean sheets everyday. Would definitely recommend Journeys hostel to anyone staying in Brighton. Jamie

Having never stayed in a hostel before I was somewhat wary of how it would be but tured out quite surprised. Now please bear in mind we were 11 chaps on a stag do and you will get the picture. I must agree with previous reviewers about the general attitude of the staff, particularly the miserable cretin who checked us in (we had paid for a room of 12, even though there were 11 of us, so some poor soul wouldn't have to suffer our drunken exploits all weekend, sadly this information had not been given to the afore mentioned cretin who just said he hadn't dealt with the booking and so couldn't change the situation.)
The Kiwi covering the night shift was a fine fellow and most helpful when prompted though.
The rooms were clean enough, the showers were hot and the toilets and wash facilities adequate.
The sleeping arrangements of triple bunks was fine but bearing in mind we were out partying till the early hours frankly most of us would have slept anywhere.
Breakfast was cereal and toast and all the coffee you could drink so I was not unhappy, it must be pointed out that there is a fully functioning kitchen and 24 hour shop next door so we cooked up bacon butties to soak up the vast alcohol content. They have a pool and football tables which were a laugh at 4.30am pissed and the booze prices were very reasonable.
All in all it added a little extra fun to the weekend as it was very much 1 star as opposed to the 3 or 4 star we would normally be used to but hey it did the job!
