Description: Located in the vibrant Kemp Town area of Brighton, The Townhouse provides a welcome change from stuffy restaurant dining, offering relaxed service and wonderful food. Utterly chilled out, The Townhouse not only has a dining room and bar in which to enjoy the company of friends, but a piano room where guests gather around the baby grand to sip wine and enjoy the tinkling of the ivories.

Stopped here for supper on friends recommendation and we were not disappointed. A nice choice of food for both meat eaters and veggies. Also a decent wine list.

It is a pleasant restaurant, and the staff were friendly and attentive. Nothing much to blow you away - apart from the salted caramel ice cream which was heaven - but a decent place for supper.

Ordered breakfast here, and had a very disappointing experience. There was such a limited vegetarian choice on the menu, that I had to settle for 'two baked farm eggs backed with parsley and peppers"- which was basically 2 fried eggs on plain bread. Then I requested sauces and butter for the hot toast served, but before the waitress delivered it, she had served another table. By the time she reached me, the food was stone cold. This, combined with the clinical surroundings and over pricing of very basic food, made this a very disappointing experience.

We came across this wonderful restaurant last year and visited it every night as the food and staff were fabulous !!!....on our return visit the other night very happy to say that nothing has changed, Brigitte the manager was an absolute darling, warm and welcoming and nothing too much trouble, the staff also were a joy and so friendly, and the food !!!!!....it made the staff look bad !!!!!..FANTASTIC !!!!!!,,,,,i cannot praise this place highly enough, this is the way to run a business, warm atmosphere, incredible food served by charming lovely staff, we are going back again tonight and will visit this place as long as it is there, thank you all at the Townhouse for making our stay in Brighton that much better !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am not sure if it was because it was a bank holiday and the place was short of staff or we we just unlucky, but we were not impressed with the quality of the meal we ordered. They only seemed to have light bites and a set lunch menu, which it is fine although we were under the impression that they will also have the other menu as displayed at the door. It's fair to say that the lunch set menu was quite cheap, two courses for £11.95, but I am of the opinion that if you are going to serve an affordable menu, make sure you get it right, or otherwise do not bother at all. We ordered a wild garlic soup and mussels as starters. The soup was quite flavourless alhtough and wild garlic is a very tasty ingredient that certainly should shine through. The mussels were quite mediocre, with a very watery sauce lacking taste and appearance. We were waiting for our main courses for about 25 minutes and when they arrived, we were not very pleased. We had ordered the steak and chips, which we knew it was from not a prime cut, but the meat was very tough and bland. The waiter must have noticed our discontent, as he asked us if everything was alright. We pointed out the poor quality of the beef and he asked us if we wanted another one or anything else from the menu, suggesting that their all-day-breakfast was a popular choice. We eventually decided to ask for the bill and pay, as we were not inclined to have anything else. They were polite and removed the prices of the steak from the bill but I am afraid that all in all was not a nice meal or experience.
