Description: Independent bar à vin, restaurant & cocktail bar based in The Lanes, BrightonWe are a unique bar à vin & restaurant with a passion for great food & wine. We have put a great deal of time & love into selecting our wines. At Plateau you can discover interesting & affordable wines that you are unlikely to see on other local wine lists. Our selection is mostly natural with some biodynamic & organic examples. We have sourced wines from local Sussex producers to renowned names & newcomers. To soak up the wine we serve ‘bites’, small dishes perfect to share or great as a starter. Follow your ‘bites’ with a ‘plateau’ to share or a 'plat' & that’s our dinner experience… although don’t forget dessert! Our chefs source organic, fresh, local produce as much as possible.Did we mention the cocktails? They’re probably the best in town & although we don’t serve Carlsberg we do serve some pretty imaginative beers from around the world. We have some top quality spirits, including some rare rum, whisky & cognac…and I almost forgot, keep an eye out for the ‘cocktail de la semaine’ & ‘beer of the moment’.There is no set way to visit Plateau, you can match the wine to the food or the food to the wine. Pop in just for a drink, a few bites or a three-course meal – the idea is that you do whatever suits you.

Seating space a bit cramped in places. All staff are knowledgable and pleasant. Food is well prepared but if you're hungry there isn't much of it. Good flavours and innovatively presented and prepared but the bill always seems higher than anticipated.

“Finally...”
Reviewed 25 June 2012

a beautifully designed restaurant with outstanding customer service and wonderful food. For some reason, the UK finds it so difficult to tick all these boxes. Unsurprisingly, this place is run by a French lady. A friendly welcome, knowledgeable staff who were happy to chat with us and recommend food and cocktails and the freshest, tastiest fish I have had in a restaurant. My wife was equally as impressed. We felt like we were on holiday.

Will be back again...and again. And again. You must go.

“Great food, great experience”
Reviewed 15 June 2012 via mobile

Small modern and attractive restaurant with a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Good selection of beers and cocktails and a decent wine list. We enjoyed the fish platter and the crime brûlée was worth every calorie! Make sure you book, we visited on a Wednesday night and it was full.

“A HIDDEN GEM”
Reviewed 8 June 2012

This place should be on the High street, as it ozzes class, its utterly spotless with beautifully arranged tables to decor, the wine list is first class that would fit into any 6* Hotel, the food washad our tast buds going, beautifully presented and so very very enjoyable, its not cheap but you get what you pay for, it takes dining to another level.
