“a great welcome”
Reviewed 24 January 2011

Stayed here by chance when we arrived after dark in Brighton on a Saturday night. The reception staff were wonderful and gave us a great rate that included breakfast and internet use. They also found us rooms away from the noise of a big wedding downstairs. Rooms were clean and comfortable as per most Holiday Inns and breakfast a buffet that had plenty of choice. Only downside is that you pay for parking but we found this is common in most hotels. A great spot across the road from the promenade and close to restaurants.

The holiday inn Brighton is well located on the sea front, however the building looks like a block of flats, thats because 11 of the 16 floors are private apartments. The holiday Inn occupies the first five floors. There is private parking below the hotel which is charged at £18 per overnight stay. A sea view will cost you an extra £30 per night, the room was appealing as it had a balcony which you could sit out on,however the room was smaller than the family room 303 which we had booked,so we decided against paying the extra £30.the room was big with two double beds plenty of space for our family.
The real problems seem to be with the staff. At checkin i was told the room had not been paid for, which was incorrect as I had booked it via superbreak on a non refundable basis.however the reception staff refused to believe me and wanted to charge me a higher rate for the room I had already paid for,it was incomprehensible! I assured the receptonist that I had an invoice with the rate i had paid on it, she asked me to email it to her.i had to borrow my daughters phone to do this, she was happy to watch me struggle to complete the task on an unfamiliar handset, iwas close to tears and very angry with the situation. As soon as she had proof she told me that she would adjust the room rate, the difference was £6.50p!!! I thought i was going to have to pay twice! What a miserable start, her lack of understanding and bleak attitude made my blood boil.At breakfast I was asked to provide my home address before we were allowed to sit down, unbelievable attitude never been treated like that before, she couldn't even be bothered to say good morning. she then asked us if we wanted tea or coffee and then forgot to bring it!! On checkout the bill said £18 it appears they realised that I had already paid for the room!!!I mentoned this fact to the receptionist and that it had upset me.I thought she may apologise instead she told me it was all superbreaks fault and to take it up with them! how much does an apology cost? yeah thats right nothing, but I did not get one. To top off my wife asked who managed the Royal Pavillion, the most famous attraction in Brighton, and was told it was closed for the weekend!! Dreadful service rude staff,is this the best you can do holiday inn???

We stayed at the hotel over the New year break with friends and family and had a fantastic time. The food, staff and service were excellent and all the team and management are a credit to the hotel. We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone and have already re-booked for New Year this year as well as a stay duing the summer.

5+Star Service!!!

Just stayed here with a fantastic mid week break (2 nights, 2 breakfasts, 1 dinner @ £122 total).

The location was very good, and the room fine although in need of a little redecoration. The evening meal was very good indeed, and the breakfast was good.

We stayed with our dogs and pleased to find a hotel that allowed dogs, however the charge per dog was £15 a day which we thought was rather steep (£60 total for the dogs, who are used to travel and staying at hotels and never cause any problems or damage, or smell).

The other slight annoyance was the cost of using the Wi Fi, why not give if free like most hotels, we then resorted to using the free Wi Fi at other Brighton restaurants and cafe's so eat out and had coffees away from the hotel.

We do boost a fantastic location with spectacular views across the seafront, perfect for those early morning walks with your dogs.

We enjoyed our stay at this holiday inn hotel, which is right on Brighton Seafront and only a few minutes walk from shops and restaurants.

We were ugraded to a sea-view standard double room from the side view room that we had booked - which was a very nice touch. The room was large and comfortable, as was the bathroom, although both were a little tired - which often seems the csse with large seaside hotels.

The staff on both reception and in the restaurant were delightful - being efficient and friendly.

We had one dinner - the 321 meal deal was very good value at £29 for a three course meal for two including a bottle of wine, and a table with a view of the seafront. Would be tempted by this even if not staying at the hotel. Food was good quality.

We also had breakfast on both days - again good value if booked the night before at £9.50. Comprised the usual hot buffet. We also tried some items ordered from the kitchen - poached eggs which were very good, and pancakes which were spoilt by being cold.

Downsides. A fair bit of noise from a party /disco on one night meant we had to wear earplugs, but it did at least stop at midnight. And some of the furniture and furnishing are a bit worn.

Myself and 3 friends stayed in this hotel for our friend's 40th birthday.
After a worrying journey in thick snow from Bedfordshire, we were greeted buy friendly reception staff, check in was quick.
Our room was on the 2nd floor, 2 double beds in a large room with side sea view, the room and bathroom were clean and well equipped.
The hotel bar was very nice, the area was festive with a Christmas tree. The reception had given us a discount card for drinks at the bar as it was our friend's birthday.
Jurgita on reception was really helpful, as the terrible weather conditions had prevented us getting a taxi down to the Marina for our pre booked dinner reservation and Jurgita recommend and booked a resturant which was walking distance from the hotel.
The location of the hotel is excellent within walking distance to city centre, pier and the lanes.
The hotel is quite at night with NO banging of doors and noise!
Breakfast was excellent both mornings, lots of choice and excellent attentive staff.
I would have no hesitation on recommending this hotel, excellent value for money, very professional/friendly staff especially William Jackson, Jurgita and Danny!
