The Hotel and staff were very helpful and attentive. The decor was a little tired in the room but this did not detract from the stay. The communal areas were fine and inviting. Ideal location for the city centre. Fully recommended.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay (Mon – Wed) at the Granville. It is perfectly located on the sea-front close to all the main attractions. We were delighted with our room which was large, had a 4-poster bed, a jacuzzi and a magnificent sea-view. All the staff were very friendly and helpful from the minute we arrived. The breakfasts were good but we didn't eat there during the evening so we can't comment on dinner. Being on the front, the noise of promenade traffic is evident from the room but we didn't find it too much of a problem. The hotel advertises itself as a 'Boutique Hotel' which I think is a perfect description; it's quirky and we loved it. With Brighton awash with bars, if I was being picky, I'd say the hotel bar, which is also a pub (I'm told under different management to the hotel) could be a bit more inviting.

We chose The Granville based on Tripadvisor reviews and on the whole the reviews reflected what we got.
Our room was spacious, the bath was enormous and the decor was interesting and quirky. Staff were friendly and ghelpul and the breakfast was good.

Unfortunately everything is beginning to look a bit tired. The paint is peeling off the windows and the decor generally is in need of refreshing. In the bathroom several tiles were cracked and a bit grubby. We were at the front of the hotel with a great view of the remains of the old West pier. Road noise was intrusive, but died down in the late evening. Parking in the nearby NCP was £16.50 for about 28 hours.

Room Tip: If you can cope with road noise, definately go for a sea view

Myself and my Boyfriend stayed here on the 4th July 2011. We came to Brighton to have a day at the Races and a night out. We arrived at the Granville quite early so our room wasn't ready. The very helpfu lstaff let us change in one of the rooms. Then he helped us in looking for the best way to get to the races. When we returned the Manager informed us that our bags had been taken up and we'd been given an upgrade for no extra money. What a beautiful suprise we had when we got to our room on the 4th floor. Sea View, Four Poster Bed, Jacuzzi. I would recommend this hotel 100%. If I was to return to Brighton, I'd certainly stay here again. Very, very, very good value for money. Breakfast was spot on too. The only down side was........we only stayed one night.

Room Tip: Great Breakfast, I stayed in the Pavillion Room on the 4th floor.

I'd picked the Granville based on their boutique rooms, the sea view and the location. It did indeed have a wonderful view and it was within walking distance to everything.

Unfortunately the hotel and room did not live up to my standards. The inside was very dated, the lift seemed like it was going to brake at any moment and the decor of our room was a shambles. The large light fixture on the ceiling of the room was torn and the wallpaper was full of mildew by the windows.

On the plus side, the staff was mostly friendly and if you're not picky about the type of room you stay in, it is great for the view. The restaurant serves average pub grub and the bar is open late for guests.

I booked this hotel through booking.com, and it was a three day break for my daughter and myself, we arrived earlier than check in, but as the room was ready we were able to book in early, the Reception staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The room was a twin room, 'the Brighton Belle' and it was very tastefully decorated with clean, comfortable bedding, tea/coffee facilities, ironing board, toiletries, everytrhing you need to make your stay enjoyable The room has a large en-suite with huge walk in powerful shower. A flat screen TV with built in DVD player, and large choice of cool DVD's in reception for you to use at your convenience and free Wi-fi.
Breakfast was amazing a great choice, from Vegetarian, Vegan, to English full cooked breakfast, bagel's with scrambled egg/salmon, poached egg's, cereal's, fruit, plentiful tea and coffee, toast, you couldn't want for more, the restaurant staff were extremely friendly and attentive, and the restaurant is light airy and nicely decorated.
Check out was 11.30 but the hotel allowed us to leave our luggage with them until Sunday evening allowing us the rest of the day to enjoy our stay, what more could you ask for a definite must Hotel if your visiting Brighton what more can I say, we would use this hotel again. XxX

This is a classic old seafront family hotel, renovated to look like a classic old seafront family hotel! The floorboards creak, the furniture's freestanding not built-in, and the restaurant's in the basement.... just like you remember as a kid at the seaside...

The location's very good, just down the seafront from the Grand, so unless you're visiting with elderly relatives everywhere from North Laines to the pier is easily walkable. The seafront is quite a busy road so there's some street noise, and on weekend evenings the London clubbers are out all night - not a real nuisance unless you're hypersensitive to noise, but equally don't expect unadulterated sounds-of-the-sea as your background music.

Check-in was fine, quick friendly and efficient. I'd booked a superior room (all that was left - you select your room on the website as you book) which was big and overlooked the seafront (right in front of the shell of the old West pier, in fact). The bed was soft but comfortable enough, there was tea/coffee facilities, and a big bathroom with a jacuzzi bath (but only a hand-held shower). There was plenty of hot water, although (on a typical English June day) some background heating would have been nice. The theme of the room was art deco so the furniture was original and memorable! There was good wi-fi throughout the hotel, free and easy to log on.

Breakfast was very good - a wide choice of hot food, and a modest buffet. The coffee was good and free flowing. The waitresses all seemed to be language students, practising their English. One particularly cute Chinese girl managed to construct a whole conversation around refilling my coffee cup - always helps to start the day with an inner smile!

So if you want cookie-cutter rooms, a nice new building, and a frequent-stay programme, you'll regret staying here. Otherwise... a great hotel for a fun seaside break!
