just come back from weekend break at the langford,
started bad with the paving slabs missing from front of the hotel and just got worse,
no hot water the first day and when reported to reception we were told we know, cant you use one of your friends room, the water from the basin came out of the back of the tap, the carpets are ripped the curtains hanging off the rails plus loads of mould in the bathroom and all this can be yours for a mere £480 a weekend for four in one double room.
breakfast was nice.

Room Tip: look at another hotel

Avoid this hotel at all cost!!!!!!
The hotel is shabby with broken step access, torn carpets, mould in the shower and dirty sheets.
There was no hot water and the TV did not work.
Were kept awake all night due to several stag parties that seemed to being held in the corridors and bedrooms.
We did not stay for the second night and when we asked for a refund, we were refused.
Bad experience!!!!!

This is a very nice, comfortable hotel, reasonably priced, and very close to the sea at Hove.
The staff are very helpful and polite. The rooms are spacious, clean and all the facilities one expects, inc a box of tissues by the bedside,a little, welcome touch few hotels provide.
Breakfast was very plentiful and a nice cooked selection if going for the full monty.
We had a few small problems that were not corrected when reported - phone intercom system and replacement bedside bulb.
A downside is the lift does not serve all of the rooms so if you book and cannot use stairs, one needs to ask for a room that is covered with lift access.

Room Tip: Book a room that is covered by lift access

Very clean hotel, reception very helpful but beware of the parking outside the hotel! We asked the girl on reception for parking advise and we were told not to park at the curb outside the hotel as we would get a ticket but we could pay £4.70 to park in the middle of the road for 11 hours (not including 9pm-9am) which we did. On returning later that night found a space in the middle of the roadand parked diplaying our ticket clearly. Next morning there was a ticket on the car with a £70 penalty to pay. we went to the town hall and complained but they were non commital and asked did I want to pay the fine, of course the quick answer was NO. On returning to the car we found we were parked in a 4 hour parking slot but had payed the full £4.70. We filled in a form to disput the fine and as luck would have have it we were let off with the fine but this made us very wary of our parking in the street for the whole of our stay. So beware!!! The hotel was clean and warm, the bed was comfortable. The breakfast was never very hot and the very tall girl in the dining room treated us as if we were an inconvenience to her day. She should ask for her money back from the charm school!!

We've been to this hotel twice now. The start of our visit wasn't fantastic this time as we (due to a last minute booking I suspect) ended up on the third floor which is apparently due for renovation (a good thing as whilst the placement of the room was lovely, the maintenance was a little lacking). However after the loo seat broke, we were moved, without any complaint, to a new room - which turned out to be the honeymoon suite (very very nice, large room although somewhat dated in terms of soft furnishings in my opinion). The staff were very helpful and friendly.
I also very much enjoyed the fact that the hotel is less than 2 minutes from the beach :-) And whilst walking into Brighton does take some time, it's lovely to see the sea and spend time outdoors :D

Room Tip: Third floor is due to be renovated (informed of this in April 2012) so probably best to avoid those...

We booked into the hotel last minute, for a 4 night stay.
The hotel is only two minutes from the beach, in the Hove end of Brighton, and about 20minutes walk from Brighton Pier.

We arrived and headed up to our room, it was 606, right on the top floor, so after lugging our bags up the stairs we arrived at the room.
It was small and split into two levels with the main part of the room being on a raised area, the bathroom and door on the lower level ( the step between the levels was annoying as it always seemed to be an inch or two bigger than you expect).

The room was clean and damage free, the bed comfy.
The windows could be opened! Which is always a good thing in a hotel.
The Bathroom was not great it had no mirror in it, and some cracks in the ceiling of the shower and above the toilet.

After heading out for the day we came back in the evening, and then discovered that the toilet seat was broken. As it was late we left it until the morning.
That night there was a lot of noise from some of the other rooms on that floor, the usual mix of drunk guests, but that did not keep us from having a nice nights sleep in the comfy bed.

As they could not fix the loo seat right away, we were offered a new room.Which we accepted.
Our new room was the Honeymoon suite.
Its located on the second floor on the back of the hotel and has a lift access on its floor.
The bedroom is large with a large 4-poster bed, dresser and couch, table and the usual extras (kettle, tv)
It has its own little hall way with a cupboard in and the door way to the Bathroom.
The Bathroom was great, easily the size of our previous room and actually had a bath with shower unit, and a seperate shower cubicle, toilet and Bidet. and Sink. All nicely tiled and clean and fresh.

Throughout our stay the staff were lovely and helpful, getting us cuttlery and plates for our take out, answering questions and just being helpful when needed!

As I have a gluten intolerance I am quite tricky to cater for, but they were able to come up with a gluten-free alternative to their breakfasts if I so wanted!
And a Vegan option too!

Pros:
Nice location, near the beach.REALLY NEAR THE BEACH. Its only two minutes walk.
Friendly helpful staff.
Good value (we booked through late rooms).
Comfy beds
Windows which opened.
Willing to cater for alternative diets.
Willing to address and correct problems.

Cons:
3rd floor has smaller rooms and needs re-decoration,-No bathroom mirror, curtains falling off, broken loo seat-The 3rd floor is next to be decorated--
Noisey neighbors for some of the stay (not the hotels fault, and to be honest given the number of party groups who go to Brighton, hardly suprising).

Room Tip: The Honeymoon suite is one of their best rooms, very quiet and over looking the garden at the back o...

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The Langfords Hotel in Hove is situated on a tree-lined avenue a short stroll from the shingle beach of Brighton and Hove’s historical seafront; only a fifteen minute walk from the bustling centre of the South Coast’s famous seaside resort of ‘kiss-me-quick’ Brighton. Although Brighton retains its cheeky reputation, it has grown up considerably since it merged with its immediate neighbour, Hove – when it became a new British city for the Millennium; a gift from HM The Queen! The combined treat of ‘Brighton & Hove’ officially merging, is that the City has become one of Britain’s most savvy twenty-first century Media Hubs – and The Langfords keeps pace happily, with conference packages to suit corporate delegates or for ‘start-ups’ in need of some space when meeting with clients…The Langfords is a lovely, red-brick Victorian building echoing with old charm and brimming with character. The hotel has 58 very well proportioned bedrooms (all with en-suite facilities), and the spacious lounge bar has direct access to our lawned gardens – perfect for relaxing in on those sunny summer days and warm evenings. We also have eight function suites and a reputation for excellent conference and wedding facilities. ... more   less
