Drakes is a lovely little hotel on Brighton seafront.
The staff are very friendly, and the barman makes an excellent gin and tonic!
My room was lovely - not enormous - but nicely furnished with a free standing roll top bath in the window and crisp cotton sheets.
I had dinner in the restaurant which is in what would once have been the cellar I guess - the food was very niceand the service excellent, but to be honest I found the windowless room made the atmosphere a little claustrophobic. Possibly go out for supper!
My one real complaint is that when I requested a late check out I was charged very heavily for the privilege, even though the room wasnt booked for the next night. £20 is fair - £90 seems a little unfriendly. A little more flexibility perhaps?
Having said that my stay was generally enjoyable - and I'm sure it would maje a great venue for a romantic weekend!

Room Tip: Go for a sea front room - you are at the seaside after all!!!

We stayed here for 2 nights to celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary and to attend a friend's birthday meal in the Drakes restaurant. We'd booked a circular sea view room but got a complementary upgrade to the super kingsize feature room with bath in the window bay, overlooking the pier and ferris wheel. Really enjoyed watching people walking home along the parade from the comfort of a hot bath!

And the bed - ah, that bed. So deliciously comfortable, so piled high with fluffy duvet and pillows, so ginormously wide!

One slight criticism - if you're staying to go out for a big night out, I'd recommend bringing a mirror as I couldn't find a well lit place to put makeup on.

The staff were really helpful and friendly, the full English breakfast was great, and the bar serves awesome cocktails. It wasn't a cheap stay, but for a very special occasion it's worth the premium.

Room Tip: Splurge on the circular sea facing rooms or the feature room! Although they won't be as quiet b...

We stayed here last weekend for my partners birthday and we had a lovely stay. Firstly, the reception staff we so helpful upon arrival, showing me the car park and the amenities in the room. Our view from the room was stunning and we loved the free standing bath. We booked the package including 2 course meal and breakfast and the food is out of this world - highly recommend you come here, even if its just for dinner.

Would like to mention that the young lady serving us breakfast was lovely, she had such a nice manner and we kind of wanted to poach her as we work in customer service! Lady with glasses sorry don't know her name!

Will definitely be back, best hotel in brighton by far.

1 moan... Car park should be free!

Had a great weekend in great surroundings. A beautiful hotel, with sensational view and helpful friendly staff. Amazing restaurant with knowledgable efficient waiters and a excellent menu. Finished off the evening in the bar, sampling the cocktails and friendly atmosphere. All in all a great experience.

We stayed at the hotel last weekend for an anniversary, eating in the restaurant on the Friday night. The room was gorgeous, comfy bed and quirky bathroom. The meal we ate was fantastic, the waiter was incredibly knowledgeable on both the food and drinks, giving great advice and opinions.
I loved the bar area, really relaxed, not stuffy and with a great atmosphere.

A brilliant hotel, wouldn't stay anywhere else in Brighton!!

Room Tip: Try and get the sea view rooms, they are spectacular!

My husband and I stayed at Drakes on the night of the 13th December 2012 an early Christmas present for him, a trip to the theatre to see Catherine Jenkins. We arrived with an hour to spare due to heavy traffic, the staff were fabulous, got us a car park space outside,
sent coffee and delicious sandwiches to the room while we got ready and organised a taxi for us .Unfortunately we were back to late to use the Hotel Restaurant but the staff recommended several near to the hotel. We stayed in room 103 which was lovely the White Company bath products much appreciated. The next morning we went down to breakfast the service was excellent and the food was beautifully presented and tasted good to .We really enjoyed our first stay at the hotel, the staff were professional and friendly we will be going back.

Room Tip: Front rooms have the sea views.
