“Excellent B&B! A Gem that we'll be visiting again”
Reviewed 15 July 2012

Just back from a one night stay at Blanch House. We were made to feel welcome and valued guests from the moment we arrived. The owners and every member of staff we encountered were friendly and accommodating. Our room (Alice) was at the rear of the building overlooking a courtyard that is shared by a local pub. However, the patrons of the pub must be inside by 11pm so there was no noise to bother us. The fact that the windows opened was a bonus for us as we like fresh air, but the room does have air-con for days when the sea breeze isn't enough. The room was small but perfectly formed, it had everything we needed including coffee/tea making facilities and biscuits, hair dryer, huge fluffy towels and bath robes.

The only small fault is the lack of a well lit mirror, so getting ready might be problematic if you need to apply make-up or titivate hair, but we find this in the majority of hotels/B&Bs, so maybe something peculiar to us?

The pillows on the bed were the most comfortable I've ever slept on :) The breakfast was prepared to order and was excellent.

I'd recommend this hotel to everyone and we'll definitely be back next time we're out and about in Brighton.

We enjoyed a mid-week stay at the wonderful Blanch House for my birthday this year and were made to feel very welcome. Our room was lovely and we slept peacefully to the sound of the waves. Breakfast was excellent value, delicious and plentiful. Kerry was a charming and helpful host who made our stay completely trouble-free, even lending me an umbrella that perfectly matched my coat! We used to live at 18 Atlingworth Street, in the building next door to Blanch House, and had always hoped to stay in the hotel - now we have we will certainly be returning. I can't recommend it enough.

Blanch House is simply fantastic. I got married there on the 9th June and had the most wonderful time. Kerry and Jeremy, the owners, are so warm, welcoming and friendly that we knew immediately that this is where we wanted to have our civil service.

We decorated the back room to make it personal to us and it looked absolutely amazing. As many of our guests were staying on the Friday night, we had a drinks reception in the bar that evening, coupled with some beautiful canapés. The staff were great throughout and were determined to ensure we had the best time - and we did.

Blanch House is such a wonderful place - from weddings to a weekend away, you will not be disappointed!

We spent a long weekend at Blanch House recently and were made very welcome by everyone, especially Jeremy, one of the owners, who helped us deal with the difficulties of parking in Brighton. We were `surprise' guests at close friends' golden wedding lunch on the Sunday at Blanch House, and the staff were great at helping us keep out of sight until the right moment as our friends were also staying in the hotel. The decor throughout the hotel is delightful and staff very efficient and friendly - nothing was too much trouble. We would stay there again, perhaps taking the train instead of going by car Enjoyed our weekend in Brighton very much.

Room Tip: we were in the Renaissance Room - very comfy, but small with very limited hanging space. I would go...

We were made to feel very welcome on our arrival by Kerry one of the owners. As my husbands case had been lost in transit on our flight from Crete via Athens to Heathrow Airport he only had virtually what he was standing up in which was shorts and tshirt they were so kind in offering to launder anything and have it ready the next day. Their attitude and kindness was so lovely and much appreciated until we could go and purchase more clothes plus get directions of where to get them from shops etc..
The hotel is just of Brighton Beach and a short stroll from Brighton Pier. Also very close to lots of cafes or fish and chip shops which are a must when visiting Brighton.
Breakfast is served in a lovely dining room which also serves as the bar area in the evenings.
It was very good quality with table service and excellent coffee of which is a little hard to find in England.
The only negatives I would say were dont book a room at the back of the hotel as it backs onto
the bar of another hotel next door and this can be very noisy as we found at around 12 oclock. It did go on for some time so made it hard to drop off to sleep as there was music going as well although I dont know if this was from the same place or further along the street as it is amongst many other hotels and accommodation places.
The other is parking as there are only a few spaces which are normally taken. You are given a voucher to place on the dashboard which does enable you to park reasonably close by approx. 2 blocks in our case but the cost of this just for our overnight stay was 9 pounds 50. In dollars around $15 so not really cheap at all as most other establishments have parking available at no cost. So I think it is something that has to be taken into consideration especially if its for a long stay.

Room Tip: Not at the back of the hotel on the left as the hotel next door is noisy . Perhaps have a look at...
