“You'll find cheaper but nothing better than Blanch House

Review of Blanch House
5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 28 Sept 2017
An extremely well run hotel deserving of its high reputation and just a short hop from the seafront. The friendly owner engages with his guests and really cares about their comfort and experience. Nothing is too much trouble and his dining recommendations were all spot on. Having driven to Brighton from the West Country we left the car parked nearby and purchased two days of on-street parking from the hotel at £10 per day. No worries and no fuss. Brighton is a great place to visit and to shop and I thoroughly recommend Blanch House as your home from home.

I booked a little get away for me and my wife to go to Brighton and watch a comedian. We got to the hotel at around 5 o clock with a nice greeting. When we where sorting out our room it seemed a little rushed the girl talking to us seemed to be loosing her breath as she couldn't keep up with herself. We where staying in the Moroccan room that was full of lovely colours. We got ourselves sorted and went out for the night. The bed was a great size and we both slept amazingly.

In the morning we went down for breakfast and looked around and no one was there. So we just sat down and waited for a few minutes and then the same lady from the night before came out and asked us what we would like.
Now this is probably the only negative I will mention. We had the full English we asked if we could make a swap with toms for hash browns from the vegi breakfast that was all fine. But being a FULL English breakfast I would of expected it to come with this already. We got our food and then noticed there was no hash brown just a potato cake baked in the oven. It seemed dry and lack of seasoning. The bacon had gone dry around the outside from ether being cooked or and reheated or being cooked to soon before everything else and then left on the side. I will say the little breakfast buffet they have is lovely and they have a really nice selection of jams, marmalade and curd on the table.

We would come back again for a quiet little break as everything apart from the little experience of food we have had.

Right from the off we knew that Blanche was going to be a cut above the usual. The manager calling me to check that everything was ok, what time should he expect us and to discuss the routine for the on street parking. Nice touch..on arrival the owner Kerry checked my partner in whilst I parked the car in the streets behind the hotel using the visitor permit system. The hotel charged £10 for 24hrs but this was well worth it as we walked everywhere so it was cheap parking.
We stayed in Orchid one of the smaller beautifully furnished rooms again nice little touches iced water and dressing gowns provided in the room. If you intend staying longer than a couple of days maybe check out the larger rooms We went to meet my son so did not use the hotel in the evening but when we returned the owner was still working the small bar displaying gin of the day.
It was a warm night so we slept with the windows open or rather tried to sleep...a family of seagulls had other ideas but I put that down to being at the seaside closed the windows and put on the fan.
The inclusive breakfast was fantastic the staff attentive not intrusive and again Kerry was working - good to see this kind of hands on teamwork. We cannot rate this hotel highly enough close to all amenities 10 mins walk to the pier it's a real find. Congratulations to Kerry and the team we shall return

We booked Blanch House after cancelling a booking at The Queens hotel because of the poor recent reviews on here! It turned out to be a great decision!
Blanch House was a treat from start to finish. The welcoming staff, the decor, and the relaxed feel around the place made for an excellent stay. Our room The Lagacia was spacious and charming with an Art Deco feel. The room was spotlessly clean and the bathroom was great. I ordered a £30 bunch of flowers for my wife and they were very nice. The cooked breakfast was one of the best we have had on our travels. Better than the Ritz! If we visit Brighton again we would certainly stay at Blanch House again.

My husband and I chose this hotel because of the good reviews on TripAdvisor and we were not disappointed. We stayed in Orchid which is the smallest room. It's fine if you just have hand luggage but would not be suitable if you had a large suitcase. Tea and coffee making facilities are in the room and biscuits and water are also provided. The breakfast is hearty and the hotel is situated a short walk from the pier. All the staff were very welcoming.

Had a three night stay here recently and couldn't fault it.
The rooms whilst small, are perfectly adequate and well appointed.
The staff were really helpful and friendly and went out of their way to ensure that our stay was enjoyable.
The breakfasts were wonderful. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to anybody who was looking for a small, reasonably priced hotel offering exceptional value for money.
If arriving at Brighton by train, the number 7 bus from the station runs quite close to the hotel. (No.27 on the return)
Most of the sights of Brighton are within walking distance of Blanch House.
