Review of Blanch House
5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 25 Oct 2017
We spent two nights at Blanch House and thoroughly recommend it.

While there are grander hotels in Brighton with an additional star or two to their name, give me Blanch House any day. The hotel is clean and tidy and nothing is too much trouble for the friendly staff. The bar is lovely and they do great drinks plus you get those extras such as home made biscuits in the room. As for the breakfast, no bacon sweating on a hot plate here. The food is local produce cooked well.
Date of stay: October 2017
Room Tip: We stayed in the snowstorm room, which was cosy and had all the amentities that we needed.

Stayed over 3 nights and would thoroughly recommend this hotel because of the attention to detail and care that was displayed in every aspect.
The hotel is exceptionally clean and fresh flowers are displayed everywhere. The breakfast options are just right for every taste.....fresh, local and varied.
There are a variety of room options so I would recommend telephoning for help with your choice. The owners would be more than happy to guide.
Parking is roadside with a permit that can be purchased from the hotel for 24 hour periods. I waited in our car for a little while and a space became free quite quickly just by the hotel but the permit covers neighbouring roads too.
The location is in Kemptown within easy walking to the pier, royal pavilion and the lanes. The main shopping area and the marina are both a half hour walk in either direction but a taxi is less than £10.
We tried a few local watering holes and would highly recommend the Italian ice cream/ bar La Mucca Nero just a 2 minute walk away. We also loved the quirky Black Dove pub.
Thank you Kerry and staff. Congratulations on providing a magnificent hotel for our stay in Fabulous Brighton.

We stayed for 3 nights at this lovely boutique hotel. It appears small from the outside but had everything we needed. The rooms are all individually designed. Our was Legacia, styled in Art Deco design. The spacious room has 2 arm chairs in front of the bay window. The huge bathroom had bath and separate shower. Cocktail bar/lounge and dining room very pleasant. Staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent accommodating our vegan diet. Flower arrangements in every room a welcoming touch. Thank you.

This hotel welcomes you in an efficient, professional and friendly way. Set just yards from the beach front and within easy access to everything in Brighton, it is the best we’ve stayed in so far, and we visit frequently.
We had an immediate upgrade to the Perrier Jouet room which was lavishly decorated, spacious and comfortable, with a beautiful roll top bath and separate rain shower, with complimentary robes.

We went down for breakfast and were greeted by one of the owners who made a point of acknowledging everyone and ensuring they were looked after.

The husband was happy with the full English, after helping himself to fresh fruit, all washed down with copious amounts of coffee and toast. Me, however, am a bit of a nightmare as I don’t eat eggs, gluten or dairy. Not a problem at all, they weren’t even phased by this declaration. I started with fresh porridge served with cinnamon and banana, then opted to have gluten free sausages and freshly grilled tomatoes. All accompanied by a lovely cuppa, with soya of course, and not the sweetened kind, thank goodness.

All the staff were friendly, without being overbearing, and knowledgable about Brighton. There was always someone on hand to offer advice on places to stay, things to do etc.

Will def return.

Me and my partner were looking forward to staying at Blanch House after seeing pictures and reading reviews, and it did not disappoint!

Luckily we found a parking space right outside the hotel and picked up our parking permit (Clearly stated as an extra fee on their website btw. Despite some idiots review on here, who expected it to be free...) We were greeted by the receptionist who was very friendly, and made an effort to ask us about our trip.

Wanting to drink some champagne we had brought, I headed downstairs to ask for two glasses. That’s when I met the hospitality legend that is Mr Kerry Turner (one of the owners). Possibly the friendliest and politest man in Brighton. He was more than happy to give us some glasses and asked what my partner and I had planned.

In the morning we went downstairs for breakfast. It was refreshing to see a menu for table service. Sometimes hotel buffet’s can be really hectic. I went back upstairs as I was feeling worse for wear after some heavy drinking. But here’s what my partner had to say about breakfast: “The food was delicious! Scrambled eggs were perfect, the bread was lovely, and a really nice thick piece of smoked Salmon that did not taste cheap!”

After having a nap I still wasn’t ready to drive in my hungover state. So we rang reception and Kerry let us have another hour in our room. RESULT. MORE NAP TIME. When we did final check out we did not find Kerry to say thank you so we dropped the key off and left. We had to go back as we forgot to pay for our parking permit. We then spoke to Kerry again who also gave me one of my socks in an envelope (I had left it in our room).

WE WILL BE BACK!

Stayed here as it is so highly recommended and was, in the end, a little disappointed. The receptionist when we arrived was a little offhand and did not offer a smile, our room was fairly small and had a very cramped bathroom. Very different decoration ! The street is currently closed so access to the hotel to drop bags off is difficult, but staff were very helpful in providing us with a parking permit (for a fee). Breakfast was excellent and the owner was charming when we met him in the morning. The area around the hotel is being upgraded (renovated houses, trendy cafes, shops and restaurants) but there are still shabby areas around the hotel. It's about a 10 minute walk to the Royal Pavilion
